I think this allows the PS3 to go further then the PSP.
I think CFW is thinking too small. I doubt CFW is needed, since this persons exploit allows you to run real Java applications regardless of FirmWare or region.
Why get CFW when you can run the homebrew without it. Its not like PSPs with OFW 1.5 where it was a weakness in just that FW. Its universal, unless there has been a security issue with every OFW that Sony has put o n the PS3, which I doubt after what has happened to the PSP.

I dont think tho that this way we will ever see full PS3 games.
I think this is as much as this can give, 2D GFX's.
Nevertheless that doesnt mean in anyway that i dont think that silenoz did a great job.
Actually he is the only one that did proved that he found a hole to XMB.

Even if this can only do 2D graphics on the PS3, this could lead to something bigger such as running C code through Java.
NES Emulators are only 2D ;)

And if anyone wants to learn to program their own Java games, I found the HDCookBook a great place to start learning. =)

How would I get any java based program to work on the PS3, such as if I download a Java game from online such as Tanks.
The way this "exploit" goes, is that it runs a part of a BluRay movie from an external source such as a flash drive.
If you examine the files, its a bunch of other files that link into the Java program and run it.
Anybody want to try to modify this and run another program?

It can't access the flash so no cfw's, you may get something like devhook or some of the other old school psp hacks.

Somethings better than nothing, Right.
This could lead to something bigger.

I wasn't complaining or raining down on it, just making sure people know that this alone won't lead to cfw's like a lot of people want. At least they finally have their foot in the door and its on a new firmware so we don't loose out.
I'd just like to say lol to all those ridiculous people who kept their ps3 at version 1.55 because they thought the old versions would be hacked first like on the psp. Its a big fat I told you so on this one.

As soon as somebody finds out, let me know. I'm wondering the same thing.
