Heh Behtrick, Are you sure the heat shield is not needed as i have mine open and it looks like the GPU OR CPU thing what ever it is looks very close to the face of the case.Just dont want it to warp or melt the case in any way. Thanks

Yeah, sometimes you can see marks left by the large heatsink. It's still ok.
Look at all the aftermarket cases for the 360. The majority are see through. None of them have you reinstalling the shield.
Also; I thought I had read awhile back that it's actually an rf shield and not a heat shield. I'm not positive though, so I don't want to say one or the other.

That's how it's referred to in the original xbox, as an rf shield. I would assume that it's the same for the 360.

lol yeah you don't need the heatshield, i usually just leave it on the stock case. The case bhetrick showed you is a limited edition case, i will be buying the same one here in a couple weeks for a friend.

I had a regular XCM Black Knight case on one of my 360s back before I bought my Elite. The fit is good. The problem I had, though, is the first time I went to remove the face plate to flash my drive, a couple of tabs broke off. With any case you get, the plastic will be harder (= more brittle) than the original MS case. So you'll have to be quite careful if you ever need to disassemble it later.
I did just get an XCM Smooth as Silk Black controller shell a short while back. It comes with a light kit. The texture of the shell has a rubber feel, but not squishy like rubber. You can see the lights on the top left controller in the second pick.
I'd have to say, when it come to aftermarket parts, XCM is pretty good.
On another note, I just finished up installing ultraviolet (purple) leds on the rol in my Elite and in a controller.
I wished the picture really showed the color better. It's "black light" purple and looks pretty cool with all the lights off in the room.
I just ordered a Whisper Max and a PulseVU 2X Fader ( http://shop.sickmods.net/product/PulseVU_2X/ ). I'm going to swap out the leds for uv in the Whisper and I'm going to do a hard drive window with more uv.

Those uv leds look awesome. I have a few of those 80mm uv ccfl's layin around i've used them in the neon colored xbox cases before and they work great.
That smooth xcm controller is pretty neat, i've had mine for about 4 months now. Don't try to clean it with anything other than water, for some odd reason just a touch of rubbing alcohol will remove the rubber finish.
I painted a chatpad to match the controller
Next two projects will be a clear blue 360 case with blue leds, and red clear 360 case with red leds.

duplicolor flat black. But then of course the next day i went to a party with it and my bro dropped it on the ground and took some paint off it. It still looks pretty good though.
The chat pad is the easiest thing to take apart, the live vision camera is so ungodly difficult.
Yeah i know i take pictures of everything...
here's the live vision camera and the chat pad before painting.
Not many people actually take it apart before painting it. I made it simple to put back together by taking a dremel to the inside and taking out the stopper that stops the lense from comming out all the way.
I've painted a billion things by now so it's not anything new.

Finally done with the halo edition... had to use some giant resistors because i couldn't find 60ohm 5 watt ones. Anyway it all turned out great, exactly like what i pictured in my head.
I used the sickmods boards and some leds from sickmods. I used special 10w resistors because at 12v my resistors needed to be able to handle 3w.

And here's pics of the fan that's modded, i had to swap out all the leds.
Probably selling this beast for 450 with the halo limited edition game. Let me know what you guys think, it was quite a bit of work, but it wasn't too bad. I'll probably do another one eventually.

Well you could just google xbox 360 halo edition. I thought everyone knew what they looked like?
So yeah.. That minus the green leds that are replaced with 9 orange 0603 smd leds (4 in controller, 5 in ring of light) plus 28 3mm orange leds.
And thanks copper, i've done 5 hdd's this way and it seems to work out great. Fitting them right there is sometimes a problem if you use too much hot glue but for the most part it's a easy mod. I first tried it on my elite.
