PS3 Game save help needed

I have been having trouble with ps3 game saves. i have downloaded a game save. it is in a folder called PS3 and in that folder is another folder called SAVEDATA and of course in that folder is the save information. But for some reason when I transfer them onto my flash drive and insert this into my ps3 and locate the f/drive through the PS3 user interface, it says that there is no save data on the f/drive. I have tried just using the SAVEDATA folder aswell but each time, I get this no save data. Can anyone explain to me were I am going wrong because this is doing my head in. Any help on this will be verry much appreciated.

dumb question what's your format type on the flash drive? If its ntsc it will not see that data, if it fat32 your good. If this doesn't work, then I'd say you've got a handful of possiblities.
1st - a bad save game file; do a google search and see if you can find the file format base for said file.
2nd - you could be accidentally loading that file instead of trying to transfer it.
3rd - remove said file from flash drive and see if you can get the ps3 to format it, and then try putting said file back on; wash, rinse repeat attempt. Could be just that the ps3 cannot see the device because there is no formatting for it to do so, but with usb I don't see why that would happen, but I've seen and heard of stranger things.
4th - reiterating oner, there is the possibility of it being an incomplete data file.
If you have any other usb devices, such a gamepad, a mouse try those on the ps3. They should work fine if they don't: big big time driver issue. Contact sony for support with this one if such is the case. If they work fine... then you know its not a hardware, driver, or software issue its a user recognition issue. Go to sony's website to their ps3 portion and check their FAQ sections concerning savedata files. Excuse I meant to say is go the the website that you got the file from and see if they have any info as to how to do transfer it.

You could also possibly have the save file for a different version of the game, eg: BLUS1111111 instead of BLES1111111 etc.

Didn't think of this, and I will add to it by saying it could be a file for the wrong console. You might have a file for an xbox 360 save, kudos to you stickweed

Not saved by you... is this a similar file transfer issue that BigCol that is having or something else altogether? I have yet to tun into this issue personally.
This does bring to mind one question, are you the only user of your ps3 Valnus? If not odds are you could be running someone else's file and they could have it password protected.

Yeah should have asked what game you where trying to import it for as certain game saves are locked to a PSN/PS3 etc.

Locked??? Why would they do that...? Since play station the files were not locked, but put on a memory card that way you can take your game disc and card over to a friend's house and play there. If they put a lock on the game files themselves that would make more sense, especially since a good portion of it is now saved to the ps3 hdd, but doing that with the save game data just don't make no sense.
Maybe its just me but that would be overkill paranoia... unless that's how you hack the console... nah!

I believe it has to do with custom characters and records and all that.
I know the MGS4 data files are locked because they keep information on your online activities. After all, it wouldn't be fair to copy your game to another PS3 and then play both online at the same time.
...actually, that's all conjecture. I could just be BSing. (It seems like they're going the Ninja Gaiden route, though. Not that it's a bad thing, necessarily.)

i found a game save for mercenaries 2 for my ps3...it says its us version which is what i need, but when i put it on my usb drive it says corrupted data....please help if u can :(

It seems that any online stuff can be locked, and sometimes so can single player saved game downloads. If you find the details for how do to it on a website, please make sure to get specific information. I have been unable to find any site with PS3 download compatibility...
however now that I think about it, if sony online allows this, if someone offers their save game data for use for other players, you may have or need to do it straight through the PS3 internet connection. It does have built in wireless as well. Beyond this final thought, most files are locked to that user.

THIS HAS WORKED FOR ME FIRST TAKE A MICRO SD CARD AND INSERT IT INTO A SD ADAPTER AND PUT IT IN YOUR PS3 MAKE A SAVE FILE TO YOUR PS3 HDD FOR W/E GAME YOU HAVE TO PUT START THE GAME AND CREATE A SAVE FILE FIRST THEN COPY THAT SAVE FILE TO THE SD CARD THEN TAKE THE MICRO SD CARD OUT AND INSERT IT INTO YOUR USB ADAPTER THEN INSERT INTO YOUR PC THEN OPEN YOUR PS3 SAVE FILES DOWNLOADED OR W/E AND MOVE THEM ONTO THE MICRO SD CARD INTO THE FOLDER INSIDE THE SAVE FOLDER IT WOULD BE SOME NUMBERS AND LETTERS THE COMPUTER WILL ASK YOU IF YOU WANT TO REPALCE FILE ETC WITH THIS ONE ANSWER YES TO ALL REINSIRT THE MICRO SD CARD INTO THE ADAPTOR AND PUT IT BACK INTO YOUR PS3 THEN IT WILL SHOW THE SAVE FILE YOU CAN THEN TRANSFER IT OVER TO YOUR PS3 IT WILL ASK IF YOU WANT TO REPLACE THE ONE ALREADY ON THE HDD WITH THIS ONE SELECT YES AND IT WILL COPY MISSION ACOMPLISHED
