I installed the Ubuntu PS3 version with no problems, other than deleting my game saves by not backing up before partition. Oh well. I would rather watch all my movies off my external HDD.

ANYways, I wanted to know how I could change the screen resolution inside of Ubuntu. It will not let me pick anything other than 576x384.

It would look much better in 1080p. I even did it the same exact way as the afterdawn tutorial. hmmm.

ANY IDEAS? and my network conection seems to be off in Ubuntu, I should be able to fix that.

open terminal.
type ps3videomode -h
this will list all the possible video settings and how you should go about implementing them.
for 1080p you would have to type:
ps3videomode -v 5

Thanks for the response.

I recently fixed the problem.

When I edited the kboot.conf, I added video=ps3fb:mode:5 when it was already in the line of code. It only needed to be altered to mode 5.

So my problem was, due to my screen resolution I did not see the end of the lines of code in kboot.conf

Now, my problem is reading (and writing if possible) my NTFS formatted external hard-drive.

I have tried a few things, but have not turned up any results.
