I've searched for this problem and no one has described this exactly, hence a new post.
I stream my media on my PC (Vista 64bit OS)using tversity to my PS3 using wireless. The problem is it only works say 30%-40% of the time.
For example, lets say its working and I can see and browse all my folders on my PC via my PS3, then I watch an episode of something, I then play a game for 30 minutes and after quitting the game I cannot see the tversity icon and "search for media servers" is unsuccessful.
I try switching both PS3 and PC off and on and restart sharing in every conceivable order but nothing appears to kick start it back into life. I go away and bang my head elsewhere, come back after a few hours and its working again. Its very frustrating because when it works its amazing I just wish I knew what was making it drop out and what I could do to resolve it.
Anyone that's experienced this problem and found a solution please help, or if you've got some good ideas I'm willing to listen.
How did you install tversity on your 64bit? i tried and it wouldnt work. i dont remember the error that it gave me but i tried it, it didnt work so i deleted it and never messed with it after. anything special for the install besides the turning off UAC?
but as for your problem, i have noticed that my 64bit labtop drops networks occasionally. rather annoying. perhaps its your computer having the issue?
but yes please anyone if you have any ideas lets share them.
I don't know if this'll work at all, because I don't know anything about TVersity or connecting media systems, but you could try physically connecting your comp and PS3 with a LAN cable.
just installed it on my labtop again and i remember that i couldnt ever get the mediaserver to connect or run i should say and i keot getting an error in tversity saying so and before i installed the ffslide show codec portion from tversity. that sucked and caused my hi def x264 files to lag. so i didnt install it this time. but i finally got my menus all set up and was read to watch movies. but i tried and i got a network error on my ps3... i thought hmm interesting. so i restarted the labtop and then searched and found my labtop on the ps3. now it worked. i have an old 480i tv and it sucks but hey im more concerned with school. BUT it was working fine with all the mkv files and avi files i had so i thought i was finished. BUT THEN i tried top gun in HD and i got the same network error... i checked the labtop and a separate window popped up and it said something about mediaserver.exe closing due to an error in the application and that windows would inform me if an update was availible. anyone else get this? i havent tried the LAN cable because i want to trouble shoot the wireless. maybe ill try it to narrow it down but just trying to keep a log of info on this issue.
I have Windows Vista 64bit with a PS3 (latest firmware). They are connected by a home plug (powerline) network. I followed the instructions on this site http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3media&message.id=58811 and it all seems to work now. Fingers crossed.
