Yea right!!!!
The wii isn't hurting sales my butt.
Why pay 500.00 for a console when for the same price you can get a wii with two controllers and tons of games.

Why not spend your money on a PS2 instead of the Wii the game selection is bigger than all the other next gen and the games are cheap.Lets face it the Wii is last gen the only reason it sells is because its cheaper than the others and has that crazy controller scheme.It doesn't support High Def,barely any storage,and probably out of all the games they have maybe 3 or 4 are good.I wouldn't call myself rich just because I own all the next gen consoles,but it does take a big chunk out of your wallet.Its called saving up and buying them gradually.In my opinion the PS3 is actually the best system,but lacks support from game developers.The PS3 has been out for awhile now and nothing really stands out besides a couple of titles.I've been waiting for the longest time for Killzone 2 or something that will be interesting yet I find myself staring at games the PS3 and Xbox 360 share.The Wii is not better then an Xbox 360 or PS3 the hardware is outdated for it and it has tiddly wink games.The only thing I like off the Wii system was the Wii Sports other than that I didn't find it all that interesting.To be honest I thought the Wii was overpriced for using outdated hardware.I used to have one but gave it to my parents as a gift,because I didn't enjoy the system as much as everyone else did.Although for someone young,and maybe older people just beginning to play videogames it would probably bring enjoyment.I was disappointed with the Wii and prefer something with more skill and better quality.Hell the PS2 is built better than the Wii,and how old is the PS2 system.In all fairness I think Sony is thinking ahead of all the other console industries,and I like to see advancements instead of old technology being reused.

Because 140 million, including many of aD users such as myself, already have a PS2.
And to suiseqbbb, what "ton" of games? The Wii has quite a few games, but are all but 4% of them really worth it?

What's this doublespeak, lol the fastest selling console of all time, that is selling 6 to 1 the amount of the ps3 is not hurting sales, yeah right.
Even if you own all 3 pieces of hardware do you go out and purchase a game for all 3 at the same time?

Anyone who judges how good a console the Wii is based on its hardware hasn't grasped the point of the Wii at all, and should therefore not be allowed to judge it.

Yeah I don't like the Wii and will not buy into Nintendo crap again.Its outdated hardware no matter how much you hype it up to be.The system uses Dvd as media,and SD as storage which is nothing new.The PS2 on the other hand can use a harddrive better storage capability and it used Dvd not much different in my opinion except for the controller.I don't consider a controller making a system next gen,and the system is not built for the future like the Xbox 360 or the PS3.I can judge a system by its hardware if I'm buying it,unlike most users I don't buy a system because of its sells.

@sammorris let me know what is so special about the Wii and I will show you the difference between it to the other next gen consoles.
As I mentioned the Wii sells because its cheap and the majority of people can't afford the PS3.The reason the PS3 isn't popular is because of its cost,and the reason it costs so much is because it uses Blu-Ray a High Def media built for the future.

i finally got a PS3 for the first time. a used 60gb model for like 220 bux! awesome!!!
but it sucks! why do people get these things. i thought it would be cool to finally have one. but i dont even wanna play it. i guess u can say the real reason i got it was to play blu-ray movies.
the PS3 sucks. no support from 3rd party, and honestly even good japanese made games suck on it.
360 just is better. yeah u have to play to use online multiplayer. but its worth it. plus the XBL has more content.
the PSN has like 8 PS3 demo's. wow. lame. and u have to install them just to play them? no thanks.
i dont see how Sony PS3 fanboys can stick up for this system. even if it was as cheap as i paid for it. it would still suck! its a PS2 with a PSP dashboard plain and simple.
call me a xbox fanboy. but if sony didnt try to copy stuff from xbox, i wouldn't be blabbing right now *cough, trophies, cough*

I'm well aware the Wii isn't next gen. It doesn't need to be, that's not the point. The Wii is fun regardless of its lack of technical specficiation. I wish some of the wii titles had the option of HD graphics, I think most Wii users have, but ultimately, its it's lower cost family-orientation that has made it the success story it has been. Nintendo's gamble not to keep up with Sony and MS has paid off brilliantly for them, and I'm glad.

I'm not sure what you are talking about,but the PS3 Blu-Ray player alone is enough to buy it from your point of view.How is the Blu-Ray player considered equal to the PS2 which uses dvd media.I agree they haven't released much yet for the PS3 in games,but the majority of games released are on both systems the PS3 and Xbox 360.I do see a couple exclusives on both systems,and you didn't even give input on the Wii which is the main arguement not the Xbox 360 which in all honesty I like as well.You gotta give props to the PS3 system for coming out with the Blu-Ray player already built in though,because all the other consoles don't support it.I know the Xbox 360 can store High Def content on its harddrive,but I don't see it having Blu-Ray media playback.

Right now, that is the big sell of the PS3, bluray. Now that HD-DVD is extinct though, prices for BluRay do seem to be falling, and given how ludicrously unreliable the copy protection system for BluRay is, you'd probably be better off using a PC to watch it as you can look up on the net why it won't work while you're at it... :P

Lets go back to sells then shall we how much do you think it cost to build a Wii and how much do you think it cost to build a PS3 system.I'm sure you can figure out the reason now why the Wii sells more than the PS3.It sells because its cheap,but to compare it to the PS3 and the Xbox 360 doesn't make sense to me at all.Its completely different its like comparing the PS2 to the Wii which is what I was referring to.

Why is the word fanboy being used constantly everytime people comment on an article discussion about consoles?

lets make an example.....
Game market is made of about 45% causal gamers,30% hardcore(causal) gamers and 25% non gamers, non gamers are the full spectrum of people who buy a game and let it get dusty rarely buying more games?
With casual being the brunt of "gamers" guess who's buying the WII mofos?!?!!? And do not tell me if the WII was not there all that money displaced by it would not be going to the 360 or the PS3, there go its COMPETING!!!!!!!!
Just because you dislike the WII and do not think its worthy of your time dose not misplace the fact that it is competing because the brunt of WIIs market say 50-70% would be spending money on either a 360 or a PS3 if the WII was not there, to say it's not competing is a fallacy of the gleeful fanboy.
Now I will give you it's not directly competing for neck and neck placement in the industry but... it dose not have to it is making such a profit normal rules do not apply simply remove the WII from the market you have millions if not billions that would be spent world wide for the other game systems, because of this fact it is competing.

What is classed as being next gen? upgraded hardware or something revolutionary which hasn't been done before?
The Wii's control system is the only thing that I have seen that makes the Wii next gen. So what if it doesn't have a billion ghz processor? or a 40gb harddrive?
The xbox 360 and the PS3 have had added hardware revisions from their predecessors (ps2, xbox), and things that have been added to the latest consoles, have already been possible on PC'S for years (Storage, online play etc..) so that's nothing new in terms of gameplay. Blu-ray is a bit of an exception, but to be honest it's no where near mainstream, same with HD, in the UK at least..were still on analogue here. You can get blu-ray players for PC, although not cheap it's not really important at this moment in time because it isn't the norm.
So we've seen things that have already been around in the new systems on PC's for a fair while yet we've not seen anything as complete as the Wii's remote system which actually provides a completely different idea of gameplay...remember games consoles were originally thought up so you could play games at home? So all you bloody annoying PS3/xbox fanboys get over yourself. your systems are just upgrades and stop being pissy about the Wii's success. Who cares if it is just basically a gamecube in a suit. Hardware is really not everything you know...and it certainly doesn't make a console next gen, if its using hardware which has already been around..
