Ok I am going to buy and fix ps3's I am currently working on a 60 gig right now waiting on motherboard, My question though is I see people selling these without a hard drive, Why do they do this? can you actually put a different hard drive in and still load a user interface or are you screwed without a factory ps3 hard drive.

You can add larger HDD's if you need to. This causes no problems.

The OS is stored on the PS3 motherboard or so... somewhere. But it's not on the HDD, so you can remove and replace without worrying about anything. The only thing you have to worry about is transferring game data, movies, pictures, etc.
