Ps3 60 gig freezes

ok I have a ps3 60gig in my possesion and when I play games and movies it works great. But occasionally when I get online with it I will do what I need on the net or through the store, but when I am going back to the menus it will freeze or lockup on the menu screen. What could be the problem. When it freezes I can reset it and eject discs but the controller doesnt respond, when I try other controllers they dont respond either.

Well look , I have a 60gig also, and a 80gig and neither of them freeze. there were a few Ps3's that started to overheat and freeze. Gamespot started to sell warranties because of this problem. unless you have a warranty can't do anything about the prob.
(Try putting a fan, if you have one next to the CPU, to cool it down)

yeah I can play mgs4 and dark sector for a hours but if I go online for ten minutes it freezes

Boo! Get off this forum with pointless post like that you have no technical info and no questions I get another one from you like this I am reporting you. I am not using warranties I fix game systems just never ran into this and wanted advice not idiocracy. Go back to your gamespot and stay there

my 60 gig used to freeze while using the web browser too but idk if it still does it because i got so frustrated after it happened 3 times in a 10 minute period that i never used it again... dont know why it happens though.

Yeah I have no use for the web browser I just go to the game store every now and then, but anyway I may end up having to do what you did. Also I had a guy tell me on the officail sony forums that it is very picky and if you hit the buttons to quick when the screen comes up it can freeze it, he said try not handling the controller when you get out of the web browser. I havent tried it yet but when I do I will let you know how it worked if at all.

The web browser has been a bit buggy for awhile now, its frozen on me as well several times. I just try to avoid using it until they fix the problem.
