hi, i have a ps3 40gb that doesnt read anything! when the disc is inside there's no bluelight on the ps3 only green light. i checked my friends ps3 & when the disc is inside i see green & blue light on his ps3 but mine doesnt have bluelight even when the disc is inside. any ideas whats wrong with it? by the way,i also had the lens changed but still wont work & bluelight. bluelight only appears when i eject or insert the disc. thanks in advance.
i also have the same problem not sure about the lighs inside but, it will play demos and connect to the internet was just wondering if the rom was bad....
call sony... could be firmware crash or glitch while updating... not sure but if your rom is bad then nothing but reflashing can bring it back to life...
send it to sony while in warranty as you may end up facing payment with further troubles :)
You need a new lens assembly. Common problem with PS3, a little more research and you would of found it. Anyways about $70-100 shipped all over the net and ebay, very easy to install if your good at tinkering with things or call sony if you didn't peel off the warranty sticker. They will send you a box and replace it for free if you have proof of purchase and it is within the 1 year warranty period. If not they want $150 to do it.

yea call sony, i had similar problem and rang sony yesterday, they are sending courier to collect my old ps3 on monday and replacing it with a referbised one that has a three month warrenty on it for nothing, also my current ps3 is out of warrenty :)
