3.4 can be fickle. Downgrade to 3.2 and try from there. There are Many guides to downgrading

You don't need to downgrade it, unless you really want too.

Just follow this guide
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/735325

You need to do the fix for 3.4

Hi All,
Thanks to your help here I got my system working and reading backup discs. What I'm finding is that all the discs I try to play are only in black and white and very fuzzy. Am I doing something wrong??

Thanks!

First reaction would be PAL/NTSC error.
When booting go into option and choose to force your region.

Sounds like your backups are all imports.

I don't know what your system is or backups, but you can go to the configuration settings of the Gamma backup launcher and select "FORCE NTSC" to yes and then launch the game (this is a common issue with PAL games trying to be played on NTSC system). This should fix the black and white issue

If that doesn't work you could try using the program "regionfrii" and patch your ISO before burning.

New and wet behind the ears.

Just went to blockbuster and rented the famous Zelda game. I have a brand new Wii v3.4U (No chips installed). After some tinkering I think I got the soft mod installed.

Here is my question?

1)How do I know the soft mod took? I have the HBC channel and have already downloaded some boring games from the channel and they worked fine. Does this mean I have accomplished the twilight hack? The Dvd player on the channel did not install properly

2)Now the big question is this...I want to "backup" a games I have purchased so my boyz don't destroy the expensive original disc? How do I do this? what software do I need to do copy the games and what else do I need to install on the wii to be able to play the copied games.

Any help is highly appreciated. I am proud of myself for getting this far and not making a brick of my kids wii. :)

1) Twilight Hack is the installation of homebrew channel, so i would say yes you have sucessfully twilighted your wii.

2) To backup original discs requires a special kind of DVD-Rom drive, see this thread for details http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/563020, and the use rawdump (2.1 recomended) or friidump to dump the disc to .iso files.

If you already have one of these, then burn the .iso file slowly on a high quality disc (RiTek, or Verbatim). once this is done you need the backup launcher (i recomend installling it as a channel via the wad manager). If you google wiigator it should come up, gamma is the newest.

If you need any "extra" help pm me.

You can also use the DVD Dump tool through the homebrew channel to create the backup iso files. This eliminates having to buy a special DVD drive to read the discs on your computer, and you likely have everything you need already. Follow this guide:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/701082
I've used it a number of times. I believe that you can skip running the custom ios installer (one of the first instructions) as I believe you've already done this when you softmodded your wii. It works great, and takes about 2 1/2 - 3 hrs to backup a disc. Just make sure the computer on your network that's receiving the file isn't set up to go into sleep mode of standby - had to start one over as a result of that.

Ok thanks for the reply...I tried downloaded DVD Dumper to the SD card per the instructions, but it does not load and it resets my Wii. I also tried putting the ios37-64-v2070.wad in the root of my sd and now it starts loading DVD DUMP but never gets past 0%.

Not sure what to do now?

You could try using different media or try using imgburn and burn at 4x speed.

Hi, I have the Backup Launcher channel installed and have just installed the CIOS36 R7 to get past the 002 error on a game. The gamma launcher I have on the SD card works for this game but when I try to run it through the backup launcher channel it still shows the 002 error. How can I update the backup launcher channel as it must still be using on older backup loader?
I am a little out of date regarding the softmods. I am still on firmware 3.2U. I guess I can stay on this firmware?

Hey guys

I know this might sound really wierd but anyway here goes: i am living in indonesia but am from australia with an original PAL Wii and have paid someone here to put the backup launcher 0.3 gamma IOS249 and works fine except that a few games that i bought here work and some do not. there is a cant read dvd error please eject and turn wii off, that comes up after i load the games from the launcher and i have tried all the different settings with the same result. For example i have a call of duty world at war game which starts to load and then before the main menu comes up with that error. it is a copied game bought at a dodgy shop but from that same shop other games work as well. could it be the game itself or something that i should at to my wii system? also i downloaded this game: [isoHunt] [Wii]Resident_Evil_Archives[PAL][ESPALWii[1].com].rar and burned it and it just loads half way and error so if someone can please help me would be highly appreciated.
PS: I dont have zelda the original disk so if i wanted to install homebrew could i do it with a fake one thanks...

hi all,

did a lot reading here and now i can confidently say that i am thoroughly confused!

my wii is running (3.1U). now should i upgrade it to any version before trying the twilight hack?

I just tried the twilight hack (not sure which version) and it installed homebrew on my wii. now i have some games downloaded via homebrew browser and they work fine.

i have the zelda twighlight pricess original with me. i made a back up using raw dvddumper (wii to computer over wifi) and burned the iso onto a sony dvd-r. but, when i insert the disc into my will it said unreadable disc.

im not sure what i am missing. is there anything else that needs to be done between burning the disc and trying to play it?

please help me - im stuck not knowing which way to go.

PEACE!

I have a REALLY beginner question here.

For step 3, it says "take your homebrew executable" and such and put it in as boot.elf/dol.

What homebrew executable is it talking about?

Link to latest cios:
http://www.teknoconsolas.es/blog/waninkoko/custom-ios38-rev-14

use this to update you wii via web, or find the wad if you want to update via wad.

And use Neogamma (has a usb loader built in) R7 is the newest.

You don't use WAD manager to install cIOS38_rev14. You use the installer via HBC. Go to the HBC and run the cIOS38_rev14 installer. Make sure you choose WAD INSTALL not NETWORK INSTALL.
