Xbox 360 will outsell PS3 for the holidays, says Microsoft

In an interview with Kotaku, Aaron Greenberg, group product manager for Xbox 360 has said that the company is confident it's console will outsell the rival Sony PlayStation 3 for the holiday season, worldwide.
"We expect to continue our price advantage over the PlayStation 3 for a long time," said Greenberg.

Well, it won't for the simple fact it doesn't play BD DVDs. I had one but gave it back after support for HD was stopped.

oh common pansies, oh im afraid of rrod, its a gamble but lady luck was with me when i bought mine 4 years ago. trust me if it does rrod its not like its going to kill you the three year warranty still stands, and if it does rrod it will be before three years is up. its 50/50

Um...no?
Why should I take a "gamble" on the RROD when I have a perfectly capable Wolfdale cpu that eats the xbox360 for breakfast? Yeah there are a handful of games only native to xbox but..why get those when microshit will just abandon it 2 years from now and come up with an all NEW rrod system to vomit up on the masses? And the sheeple being the..well..sheeple that they are, will almost certainly wait in long lines to be reamed once again by Microsoft.
No dice. I will let others play that game.

LMAO You will have to speak for yourself as I am in it for the games. Here is a little tip. The phrase "all about the games" really describes a gamer who doesnot take shallowness in a game just b/c it has good graphics. Its more about the experience, the storyline, the funfactor, the replay value, etc.. Mega man 9 was recently released multiplatform. I am sure not playing Resident evil on the Wii for the graphics as it honestly looks terrible compared to Xbox360 and PS3 games. Those statements conflict or should i say are very hypocritical. Real gamers do not buy games like Gears of War, MGS4, just to admire the graphics. Graphics though great didnt keep me coming back to bioshock it was the storyline and addictive play. Graphics dont make the game great though I will admit they do have some say in the games overall greatness. Graphics are not what keeps people coming back to play COD4, nor Ms.Pacman or Galaga and i dont think the fact that we all know God of WarIII when released will probably have great graphics will be as big a selling point as most true gamers knowing it will probably be a top notch game. Anybody feel me?
On topic, this is no surprise and i agree the xbox360 will outsell the PS3 this holiday season but then again the real task is to try to start competiting with the Wii sales. Wont happen anytime soon for the xbox360 or PS3.

With sales of Blue-ray players steadily dropping and finally coming under the $200 mark. I dont think the PS3 will outsell the xbox360 this holiday season. Its no telling what kind of specials we will see on Blue-ray players with the holiday season approaching further lowering the prices. A lot of people will probably choose the cheaper player and then buy a next-gen system of their choice. But as you stated and i agree, neither will outsell the Wii.

Like I said previously, the price alone is why they would sell more, "not saying that it better or worse" If I were in a postion to get a next gen system, I would go with the one I could afford (I have rent, car note & and everday life cost of living) It is no suprise that MS says they will sell more, but honestly I expect to see Nintendo in the fight, It is cheaper than both of them (i think)most os the shopping in the holiday is done by the parent, and with George W. Bush screwing up the money It won't be a shock if ppl take the cheaper route.

Let me clarify.........Title of article "Xbox will outsell PS3 for the holidays"
The claim or actuality of one being better than the other HAS EV-ER-Y-THING to do with the article. It's the core reason. So either you mistyped, misunderstood or are just a few bricks short of a load. I'll assume the logical.............first choice.
As for my statement earlier about Xbox being superior to PS3......it is. Read the reviews, game choices, and model shading, clarity and overall detail of the systems. XBox out performs constantly. You nincompoops implying that just because PS3 has better raw hardware, that it's a better system is like saying that you are smarter than someone else SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU HAVE A COLLEGE DEGREE. I THINK NOT. Get clues peeps!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In my case, I'm smarter, edgier, more intuitive and have more common sense than 99% of the loonies out there..........whether or not they have more college than I.
You have all demonstrated that you are not capable of being behind the big red button that decides the fate of us all..........THAT'S FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME AND THE SELECT FEW I CHOOSE.

I agree cheaper price definitely does push sales but you have to give some credit to the xbox360 which was chosen to enter the next generation without some of the more expensive technology and has still proven to be a good system. Wii and Xbox360 have no Blue-ray. Hell Wii has no next-gen graphics nor blueray and still is doing well. My point.... its not an accident that those consoles are cheaper than the PS3. There is a breaking point with a lot of gamers who just were not willing to pay so much money for a videogaming console. Seriously you have got to set a point were you say the console can not excceed a certain set $figure$ at launch. Will the next-generation consoles cost $1000 and if so i hope they dont plan on selling many units. I know some people bought the PS3 b/c it has blueray playback but sometimes i just wonder if they had done without the drive allowing for a cheaper console and concentrated more on games(bigger library of exclusives), if they actually wouldnot have attracted more people and kept more of their fanbase. This stratedgy did help them dominate the last generation of consoles. They already had the momentum heading into the next generation. I mean they had all the fanbase on lock with the PS2 but the high price of the PS3 scared a lot of loyal fans elsewhere.
