I agreed with schweet, it's probably the disc problem. Some batches work while so don't. The reason why they are cheaper...

I am having a similar problem. Maybe somebody could think of something I could do to fix it as well?

Here are all the details I can think of:

-My xbox 360 is modded with 1.3 iXtreme firmware that I got around the summer of 2007.
- I have recently bought a "LiteOn" DVD burner, and I have successfully burned various games already.
- I only use Verbatim DVD+R DL disks
- I have recently switched over to DVD Decrypter, which, also has worked successfully the past few times.
- The layer break was manually configured to "1913760"

I tried to burn GOW II and when I inserted it into the xbox it wouldn't read the disk.

There are three things that I could think of that could be the problem.

1. I am not using the .dvd file that was included with the download. ---> If it is this, then I don't understand why previous games have worked without it. Also, if this is the problem I have no clue what the proper procedure is; I will need some guidance.

2. I really hope it's not the laser in the xbox dying, but I have heard of this tendency. --> I am inclined not to believe that it is this because it still reads all the games I have burned before.

3. I would like to know what the best software is to use, and then, if possible, a guide on how to do it. I have heard the DVD Decrypter or Imgburn is good, but I have also heard about Xbox Backup Creator being good as well.

I would appreciate any help on this problem!

Well if I was you, I would first try to use IMGBURN and if that doesn't work the next thing I would say is upgrade firmware to 1.4. I have 1.4 and it works great once I got the right media. Hope it helps.

im still getting nowhere! im using imgburn, verbatim disks and employing the advice given here. i thought that it might have been my dvd burner on my laptop so i went out and bought an external dvd burner and still no joy. As i have said before my 360 can play back-up games but when i try to burn my own i just end up with coasters! any help would be well recieved.

Ok, so I have an Hitachi 49, and I have been fighting with the damn thing reading my backups since I flashed it. It would read them sometimes and other times I would recieve the grand message "uplayable disc"

So I started with Memorex DVD's and it would read sometimes and not others so I posted to the forums and most everyone replied with "USE VERBATIMS." So at the time I didn't have any money to buy more DVD's at the time so I was hoping to find another fix by searching and reading through the forums. So I got some money and bought some Sony DVD's which had decent reviews and well my drive wouldn't even read them at all. So I then returned them to Best Buy and exchanged them for Verbatims. Well I went home burnt it and put in and it worked so I thought well my problem is solved played some Madden games on Live! and put in Dead Space, didn't read. SAME DAMN PROBLEM - 3 types of with all the same result, I was so pissed. So I then figured it was the ROM within the xbox. I was then going to go get a new xbox and flash it and see how it goes but I had an epiphany take apart the ROM and clean the laser. Which I did with rubbing alchohol.

Since then my xbox hasn't given me an "Unplayable Disc" message. And trust me I put in 30 different games and then turned it off for a while and did the same thing and it worked fine. Even had some Memorex backups I had burned that read fine.

SO IF YOUR HAVING PROBLEMS READING BACKUPS TRY CLEANING THE LASER IT DOESN'T HURT A THING!

i understand what you're saying, but i have got back-up games which have been done in the last few days using the same method that i have used but on a friends desktop computer which then work fine in my 360, but if try to burn them on my laptop i get nothing! If it's an issue of cleaning why would the backups that were burned on a friends computer work when mine don't?

for me it's strange. only certain games won't read on my xbox. recently it has only proven to be GOW 2 and monopoly.

could i use one of those dvd disks that cleans the laser without having to open it up?

if not, how are we supposed to open up the xbox without damaging anything?

One question...my dvd burner im my vaio is a pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K17 1.00.

Can it be the problem why my discs don't work?

when i try to set the book type in image burn, it can be done, it always says:

Unknown (failed)
Reason: Invalid command operation code.

Do I have to buy a nem burner?
