Now i mainly rely on Mkv2vob to convert my mkv to playable ps3 viewable content but some 1080pmkv files i have are giving me a difficult time. for example some of them take almost a 24 hours to Transcode..
Is there an easier and shorter way?
If i try to muxing it without transcoding it i get the audio with a BLACK screen. How do I avoid wasting my time dl'ing these movies. is there a way to tell which ones to avoid?
...well, you could try being patient instead of complaining after just a day... but I understand your concern.
The conversion process is heavily reliant on your CPU strength and the size of the video; no program is going to do the job any faster than any other program... or at least I don't think so.
As for the black screen, that most likely means that your video is corrupt or otherwise encoded wrong, and you'll have to re-encode it. That, too, is highly dependent on your CPU strength.
And there is no way to tell which .mkv's to avoid, as almost all of them are designed to be played on a PC. If you want them to play on the PS3, then you'll have to invest the time in making them work.
...or you could try streaming the file through TVersity/Windows Media Player 11, but I highly recommend against that. If it takes your computer 24 hours to encode the movie (hell, it took my computer over 36 hours to encode a 720p movie), then it won't be able to stream the video effectively, either.

thanks for the advice. now i understand alil bit better. I thought it was unusual that it would take that long to transcode. I thought the problem was on my end. Now that you told me it took you 36 hrs then i know its normal for some mkv files to take a long time. I guess like you said i just have to be patient.
