I would like to backup Goodfellas (a flipper) onto one disc. I have read forums everywhere, and can?t get a definitive answer to one question: If I use the reauthor in Shrink, will I see a pause between the two VOB files? Some people say yes, others say no. I?m planning on reauthoring to get rid of the junk at the end of side one and beginning of side two, and know that I will have to leave menus and extras behind. I just want to know from someone who has done it if the pause (if there is one) is obnoxious enough to warrant trying a more complicated way of doing it. As always, I appreciate everyone?s feedback.

Pause?...Can you imagine a blink of the eyes? That'll be about all. I did this with Godfather II - a 2-disc set. Re-authored & ripped #1 disc to HD saving only the Main Movie. Did same to #2 disc and 'compiled' the two Main Movies from the DVD Navigation tab in Shrink. You'll only have to re-author & rip one side, flip it, and let Shrink analyze before you re-author side two. Navigate to side 1 main movie you've ripped and drag it in, same with side 2 on your DVD and Backup to a New Folder.

Good luck---watch that the compression level doesn't get to much.

I use Shrink to cut and splice all kinds of scenes, trailers and other stuff I want in. If you wanted to you could take all the chapters and put 'em in reverse order. You just need each one in a folder.

Shrink's start/end feature allows you to move through the movie in 15 frame increments. You can select an area in the film betwwen scenes or chapters to make your splice.

Another thing to consider is that even if you did have a slight pause it wouldn't be any worse than the layer break pause you see on commercial DVD-9s.

yes you will get a slight pause...usually a second but it's mostly dependent on your standalone dvd player. Nero Recode2 and DVD2One both allow seamless so you don't have to waste a second of your life waiting for it to switch to the next title.

Thanks... I gave it a try (burned with Nero) and it was perfect. I couldn't even see the edit. Who could ask for more from a freeware program? Gotta love it...
