cant get ps3 games to play at 1080p on a 1080p tv

I have 3 games that say they can run at 1080p but when i play them they run at 720p .Ihave the ps3 at 1080p and tv at 1080p with an hdmi cable that suports 1080p. but tv still says its 720p. some of the free demos will run at 1080p tho. This is also the same with my xbox 360.

Go to to the display option under settings ,Select video output settings, select HDMI, select custom, then untick 1080i and 720p, see if that works.
