Not unless you use the "swap switch" method (see the stickies). However, this involves opening up your PS3 and cutting/soldering wires, which i wouldn't recommend unless you were experianced at that sort of thing.

Unless of course you want to pay for your downloaded PS1 and PS2 games. You pay for them and you can then download them from the PSN on your PS3.

If you do not want to pay, then you can do what ibizaGTi said.

PS2 - Swap Magic 2.0 DVD - Swap Magic 3.0 CD - Memory Card Exploit - Swap Magic 3.6 ELF - Swap Magic 3.8 ELF

PSP SLIM - OFW 3.71 - CFW 3.71 M33 - CFW 3.71 M33-2 - CFW 3.71 M33-3 - CFW 3.71 M33-4 - CFW 3.80 M33 - CFW 3.80 M33-2 - CFW 3.80 M33-3 - CFW 3.80 M33-4 - CFW 3.80 M33-5 - CFW 3.90 M33 - CFW 3.90 M33-2

XBOX 360 - Currently Researching Mods

PS3 80GB (Soon to be 320GB) - OFW 2.50

It would be easier, cheaper and far far safer for your ps3 to just buy a second hand PS2 and use one of the million free ways to play backed up games.

Downloading games is a pretty nasty thing to do to the game developers. They worked weeks and months for something with countless hours of testing coding, designing etc and then people expect it for free...

Thats why i know only buy my games but w/e you wanna do do it

I agree. That is why i didn't get a flashed 360. Too tempting to download games for free and I want to support the next generation of game development. And even if the PS3 is hacked, I would be determined to only use any expoit for Homebrew.

But with regards to PS1 and PS2 games (which was in part what scorpio40 was asking about), it's really a personal decision that should be based on the "used" vs "new market". You can legitly get them used from anywhere between $0.5 and $10 (Amazon or eBay - depending on the game and system and excluding newer PS2 releases). And if you were to buy them used, then you're not supporting the developers anyway.

One example is the Tombraider series. 1-3 box set for the PSX lists new for $47 on Amazon (might be cheaper elsewhere...I didn't look). But used, I can get them for on average $1.50 each. I'd love to support the devs, but my budget says pay $4.50 instead of $47. Tomb Raider Legend on the PS2 retails for about $20 new and just over $6 used. If someone is deciding whether or not to download a copy or buying used, then the developers compensation is not even on their mind. But someone who is a hardcore supporter of the devs will completely shun the used game market as well as downloading a copy. My opinion is that once the used market brings the cost of a game to a low enough level where people won't even consider buying new, then all bets are off. Developers need to work with their distributors to get the price point to compete with the used game market. If the Tombraider 1-3 box set retailed for $between $5 and $10, then I would buy it new and be happy to support the devs.

Yes. Don't screw around with the PS3. It's too expensive an investment.

There are a couple of sections in the Afterdawn forums that deal specifically with playing PS2 backup copies on the PS2, whether they be with a system that has a chip installed, or using a swap trick (swapmagic disc that needs to be purchased). I'm sure you will find all you need in those sections. I would suggest reading a lot of that info. There is nothing that has not been discussed already numerous times in those threads.

I never tried to play PS1 backups on a PS2. Any system before the PS2 is best left to emulation in my opinion. And PS1 emulation is very good. Even the XBOX 1 can handle it well from what I've read.
