I want to buy the new 160gb ps3 but first i want some advice regarding my future acquisition.

I have a NTSC Sony Bravia 1080p with HDMI (imported from US) and a multizone Yamaha receiver and the PS3 i want to buy is PAL, sold in UK.

1) If i connect my future PAL PS3 to my NTSC LCD via HDMI will it work?

2) If i connect the HDMI to my LCD and the optical audio out from PS3 (TOSLINK ) to my a/v receiver will i it work, will it have surround sound? (i ran off hdmi ports on the a/v receiver and the only one available is on my lcd)

3) Can i play games sold in US on this UK console?

Sorry for being a noob but i didn't know where else to ask.

Hello :) on 1. You might really need a pal to ntsc converter, actually I read that there is no ntsc to pal problem on hdmi only on analog signals so u might need a dvi to hdmi converter or something like that. 2. don't know. 3. Positive No... :( I bought a PS2 from Europe since I'm on USA my N America games don't work had to use a chip... That's all :)

Thanks for your quick response :)

Why would i need a dvi2hdmi converter? PS3 and my sony bravia lcd they both have hdmi. I forgot to mention that my tv is 1080p native, if that matters. I'm not interested in ps2 games, only in ps3 ones.

Can someone confirm that pal ps3 will work on ntsc tv via hdmi?

Hello I found for you some info ;) zoom is correct most new ps3 games are region free you can play them on an HDTV and only some of the first games that came out for ps3 were region lock. The only problem is with SDTV's they have problems with displaying PAL games. Here is some info...
