I have a problem with my sixaxis and its become unusable. The thing is the right stick drifts up and never wants to come down. Just to be clear the stick isnt stuck physically, even when centered it drifts.
For example, I cannot play any game that uses the right analog to control the camera (which has become a standard) because the character will look up forever and its impossible for me to bring it down even with the stick pointed down.
I have tried resetting the controller with a needle, charged it fully, discharge it completely and the problem persists.
Does anyone know how to fix this?, if you do please explain. I can open it up since I dont have warranty anymore.
The sixaxis are notorious for this, we haven't found anyway to fix it. The analog sticks have been upgraded in the ds3 because of this, my only suggestion would be to invest in a ds3.
My original sixaxis has the same drift problem but it doesn't sound like its as bad as yours. I just bought a DS3 about 2 month ago so I could play COD4 again.
@ canuckerz: You said that they have upgraded the DS3. Does this mean that they have fixed the problem? I have been so paranoid about the same thing happening to my new DS3 that I use my old sixaxis for most of my other games. I am just trying preserve the life of my DS3 for COD4.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem with a DS3.

I've been using my ds3 ever since they came out in NA and there is stil no wear on the analogs. The problem can't be completely fixed but its a whole lot better than the sixaxis.
I have a couple of Dualshock 2 but I dont think they are the same. I was thinking of buying some damaged sixaxis to use for parts and maybe exchange analogs but since you guys said its a common problem I wont because most broken sixaxis controllers probably suffer from this too.
Right now I have a Nyko Zero controller (cost me about $18) and I guess Ill have to keep using that.
Ive heard the DS3s are much better Im gonna have to get one of those when I get a chance.

How do you like the nyko zero? I was always curious of it.
the tilt sense works just as the original sixaxis does, vibration is there and its actually pretty comfortable.
The battery compartment can get in the way if you have large fingers though but you can always play it with the USB cord and remove the battery thing.
Kind of similar to the xbox360 controller. What I dont like is that it uses up my USB ports but if you have the PS3 version that has a lot of USB ports then that wont be a problem.
Its my main controller right now, and itll stay that way till I get a DS3...theyre too pricey.
