Hey guys, just wondering if I could get some advice on a computer build I'm planning. Here are the specs of my current machine:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ @ 2.3 GHz
ABIT AN8 939 NVIDIA nForce4 ATX AMD Motherboard
Patriot Signature 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200)
7800 gtx
Windows vista ultimate

Here's what i have picked out for the new system:
JetWay HA04-Extreme AM2+/AM2 AMD 790FX ATX motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813153097

OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227298

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3.1GHz 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103272

Is this a good build in your opinion? Also, would it be worth my money to get a quad core instead of the dual core i picked out? This system will mostly be used for gaming. Finally, should I upgrade my gpu as well?

Thanks for looking, any advise would be greatly appreciated : )

Thanks for the imput! I was wondering, is it really worth the extra cash to get a quad core?

Depends on what you do with the PC really, a quad core is likely to be more futureproof, and some games do make good use of it, but if you're not a cutting edge gamer, a dual core will suffice.

Unless it is possible to SLI two different cards (It's not is it?), you'd be better off buying a mid-range new card (Ie. the 3850 if that 4850 was too expensive for you.)

yea, sli is usually good for high res monitors above 1650x1080. so unless you have a big monitor, sli will not give a big increase in games.

Two 7800GTXs in SLI still won't even match an 80 dollar card, the HD4670.
