Hello. Is it possible to use a PS3 controller on the XBOX 360? Tekken is now being released on the 360 and I can't imagine playing it, or any fighting game with the 360 controller. I tried searching Google for an adapter but I came up empty. Can someone tell me if this is possible and maybe how to get one please? Thanks.

i didnt say the question was stupid just kinda obvious that and you cant adapt it especially if they're wireless and use totally different types of frequencies and not to mention they dont even use the same wireless types but whatever if people understood the specifics of how the controllers work in the first place they would understand why this is not possible

if 'theres no possible way to do this' then why did Vergil give the OP a link to a product that will do this for him? such link would prove that it is possible to use the a different consoles controller on the 360.

I'll tell you why. They aren't programed for eachother. Also the ps3 uses bleutooth while 360 uses radio waves so sorry man

I sent Divineo an e-mail asking a few questions about the adapter and one of them was how you would use the XBOX Button since the two controllers have the exact same amount of buttons with the exception of that one. Their response was that you can set the XBOX Button to whatever button you want to with the adapter. My problem with that though is that if you do that you are sacrificing a button that will be needed to play the game for it. I sent them another e-mail about it and am currently waiting for a response.

Here's a subject I am very knowledgeable on for a change... :)
The 360 controllers have a built-in code that the 360 console checks when a controller is connected/married. That code is copyrighted, which means that if a 3rd-party just added the code to their controller/adapter they could be sued. It would be easy to make one, but you couldn't release it legally.
That's why you don't see 3rd-party cheap Chinese knock-off controllers and adapters like you do for the other systems.
As for the XFPS someone linked to, that is the one exception... well, sorta. You see, the way the XFPS/Maxshooter works is that you have to plug in a wired 360 controller into it to initialize it. In other words, the console looks for the code and reads it from the official wired gamepad, passes, and then the adapter takes over.
Notice the XFPS page says "Max Shooter for Xbox 360 must be used with Xbox 360 wired controllers". That's why.
Hope this helps.

The 360 controller blows that PS3 controller out of the water. You should be ashamed of wanting to use that over the sexy excellent crafted 360 controller. To answer your question no it's not possible to use a PS3 controller on a rivals console being the xbox 360, I think you kinda knew that :)

Have you used one of them before? If so how do you get away with not having the XBOX Button? I wonder if you can map a combination of buttons to act as it, like Start/Select.

I agree with fgamer that the 360 controller is better than the ps3. But for fighting games where alot of people prefer using the D-pad, the 360 can drive you nuts. I almost kicked in my tv playing the new mortal kombat. I don't know how many times I jumped into a 14 hit combo when I was just trying to walk forward. Maybe it's just my huge thumbs, but it seems the D-pad is poorly designed.
I might try out this max shooper thing.
Thanks for the info people, you may have saved me a tv set and countless hours in anger management.

something good though the newer 360 controllers have a fixed d pad where its more accurate and recognizes when you tap the buttons i guess Microsoft listened to the complaints

I have the PS2 to Xbox 360 adapter for controllers and I use it everyday on my xbox. I dont like the xbox controller cuz of the stick misplacement and also the sticks are Concave rather than the Convex on playstation. It doesnt feel right while playing...
So yeah, that works fine but then the ps2 controller is not that great either... So if there was an adapter to use the PS3 controller on PS2 then we cud use that adapter with PS2 to XBOX 360 adapter and problem wud be solved. Does anyone know anything like that?
