Just curious. I just keep reading that people are having issues with over heating or whatever it is with the first gen ps3. I have the next gen ps3 the 8o gig model with no ps2 emulation. Are those built better? Meaning do they have a better chance of NOT having those issues people are having with the first gen versions.

i read your posts on my thread. the whole overheating thing rarely happens. While i said "overheating" i don't believe thats whats really going on. You have the newer ps3, they don't have many components like card reader and some hardware for the ps2. so that means more space to vent inside. and if you notice they are alot lighter than the first gens. but other than that thumpy they are the same. sony hasn't added anything new to any of them. just hard drive size changes. though i wish we could mess with the ram some how.

The 40's and new 80's have a newer cell chip in them which use less energy and therefore run cooler. BUT to shave money sony took away from the heatsink on them and just added a bigger fan. So you're not going to see much of a heat difference because of it.

yep, apart from the aforementioned hardware changes there is no difference in build quality. i think maybe the failures are just luck, or lack of.
as i've said before me and a couple of mates have had the 60gb since launch day and not one problem has occurred (despite the odd crash, caused by the games though)
