anyone got any answers?
i just bought it yesterday and things were pretty good
actually until it show it still reads but the CD icon deosn't show up
in the game menu in the xmb. i tried another disk and same results.
if it was fixed could have been a great Christmas gift.
Sounds like the issue i had with my PS3. Basically the Blueray doesn't load games etc..
If in Warranty, get Sony to replace it... (plus look into taking out Sonys insurance for you PS3, as that drive will fail in the future)
Out of Warranty
You have 5 options.
1) Sell on Ebay, and scam someone, and buy another PS3
2) Sell the item as broken on Ebay, so someone else can fix
3) Find somewhere that can fix it. (£150 upwards)
4) Open PS3 up, using the videos on Youtube, clean the lense. (doesn't always work)
5) Open PS3 up, using the videos on Youtube, replace the BRD drive, with one purchased on ebay (Hong Kong seller make sure you get the whole unit, not just the laser). (costs around £45) it took me around 1 hour, and have been working perfectly since... it is really easy to do.
Same thing happened to me last month.
Rung sony up, they said the blu-ray drive had died and they replaced it with a refurbished ps3. AND mine was out of warranty :)

You live in the UK?
Because I'm pretty sure that people in the UK get their PS3 fixed even after the warranty :D
