thanks for the guide, i will try it to see if i could do it. do I have to buy the connecitivity kit with it to perform this mod?
what is PortIO32, is that a program or a device i have to buy?

i have a question, what happen if i mess up one of the step.. will I be screwed? i have never modded a drive so i am afraid i will screw it up. help!

I was wondering about Port IO32 also. (Your search - Port IO32 - did not match any documents.) Is what i get for a result so now im really wondering what it is espically if it has been discussed so much lol. I also tried spelling it different ways with the same result I must be a idiot or something.
All I can find out is that it is a program included with the release. But no mention of what it actually does. I would guess it installes a driver?

i hate to do this but portio32
port ie/ com,com1,com2 etc
i/o ie/ input output
32 ie/ system 32
its a driver by winford it controls ur via card when you disable its drivers needed in some appz
like he says basic info can be found in threads accross the scene and many many many tutz

i am actually really a noob, i used to be mod my psp that's why i became a senior member in afterdawn.. in terms of my real knowledge in understanding how modding work in xbox 360.. i am truly a noob.

symb if you read the threads u will find that u can spoof any drive further more the liteon is a better drive and can now be flashed so personally i dont see the point

Sounds good I have a spare MS28 I bough online for my first 360 I wasn't able to use it for that one turned out the motherboard was fried

why would you do that ??
the whole point of this 1.5 release is so that we can flash our Lite-On drives ...
you run a much higher risk of getting caught by microsoft when spoofing onto an ms28 ... if your XBOX came with a liteon drive you should keep a liteon drive inside of it.

thanks, very helpful as I will be doing this soon.
quick question tho, how do you turn the DVD drive off? do you just turn the power of the xbox off?
and can anyone elaborate more on "When ready, hold the Spear, Probe, or whatever you have on the R707 point."

no, guesswho wasnt setting a bad example. john would ask the most basic questions ever, over and over and over again. such as, how do you sync the controller, do you have to flash it to play burnt games etc. so his statement of saying that johncchc is setting a bad example by not searching is well justified.
also, why bring up a four month old thread?

Hi everyone,
I am new to this but I really need assistance. I just flashed my hitachi 79 and everything went fairly simple. I am now trying to flash a lite-on drive and am having alot of difficulties. I was able to extract the key of the drive using dvd key in jungleflasher. Then when i pressed the lite-on erase and followed some of its prompts, my computer froze and I had to restart. Now i cant operate the lite-on dvd cause i erased the firmware but my pc is running at a slow crawl with the drive connected. Can anyone please lend me some assistance on what i can do to complete the flash. Thank you.

Load your saved dummy.bin and new iX 1.51 firmware in JF and create your new hacked firmware. Save it to a file and name it "hacked.bin"
Download the Lite-On DOS pack from here:
www.360mods.net/index....ails&id=97
Format a DOS bootable drive using iPrep 008.8, the free HP Boot Utility or any other method. Once the DOS drive is formatted, extract the Lite-On DOS pack rar file onto the root of the drive and also copy the new hacked.bin that you created in JF onto there.
Boot your PC up your newly made DOS bootable USB stick
Wait for the C: or A: to appear
At the prompt type in L-O-eras.exe ( address of your sATA card )
For example L-O-eras.exe 9000
Before you press Enter turn On the drive
Press Enter, it should say FF80 or FFFF
Type in L-O-eras.exe ( sATA card address ) again and press Enter
Should now show FF72
Turn Off the connectivity kit and back On
( this is important or else it?ll say unknown chip type when trying to flash )
Now at the command prompt type dosflash and press Enter
Press N (if it asks) until it asks what number drive you are using
It will then give you options of Write or Erase etc....
Press W for write and it?ll ask for filename
If it says unknown chip type you didn?t power the drive Off/On
Type in the name hacked.bin or whatever you called your modded file
Press Enter and it?ll begin to erase then write the 4 banks
Once it shows a checksum the jobs a good one
Turn off the connectivity kit and reboot windows
Put Xbox back together and test

I just want to send out a big thanks to both zooom1834 and blake1234 for all the help. I found a video which showed how to flash the drive using the same method described by blake1234. It was fairly simple I just had a hard time with my computer recognizing my flash drive as a boot disk. I had to change some settings in the Bios and it was smooth sailing from there. Once again thanks for all the help. You saved me $300 plus cause i thought for sure i had ruined my friend's xbox.

Alright, well now I have another problem.... I flashed a lite-on drive using dosflash off of a bootable flash drive and everything worked. I tried the drive out with a burnt game it worked. Now I put in another game that i burnt and it stopped working. I can open and close the drive but when i put in the game in the drive it begins to read it then quits. It does this now for both burnt media and original games. I retried the dos flash method but nothing.. Can Anyone Please Help....
