I am new to flashing drives for xbox 360, and i will soon be flashing my lite-on with ixtreme 1.5
I will be using the ck3 probe, to avoid soldering. however, i noticed there was two connectivity kits.
Could anyone be so kind enough to identify the differences between them, and which one they would recomend me, a beginner, to flash my 360 liteon.

i read in the mega 1.5 thread that the difference is usb vs serial, i dont know what that means but maybe that will help you out.

aah i see.
i assume 1 connects to a serial port in the computer and the other connects to a usb port??
i would prefer usb but one of the old computers in my house definitley has a serial port. but it has been years since i used a serial port.

i would use usb since every computer nowadays has usb too. where to buy it? any website would be greatly appreciated.

theres this really good guide on this page for flashing the liteons
just press alt + f4 , and the guide will appear in a format understandable by internet explorer.

wow don_sf real funny, I don't think that anybody is dumb enough to fall for that. also guys you don't have to use the ck3 you could always use the maximus xtractor, you can find it here(http://www.modchipcentral.com/store/360Xtractor-for-Spoofing-Swapping-Drives-p-143.html) you can get the spear add-on and you won't have to solder, all together it'll cost you $55, and johncchc, yeah you can mess it up, but as long as you read the guide a couple of times and follow along with it while flashing,you won't mess it up, its really not all that hard. also the maximus xtractor is usb, if you have any more questions or anything let me know and ill try to help.

if i buy the ck3, it will also be okay right? ck3 also has the usb on it as well. what is the difference between maximum xtractor and ck3there are couple of things that is troubling me
1) how's the liteon dvd power on? i need to connect the power cord to the xbox 360 motherboard right?
2) on the noob guide to modding liteon, it says to press eject and then turn off and quickly turn on the liteon dvd? where is the on and off switch button at to turn the liteon drive on and off?
3) if i get the ck3 pro, do i still need other physical devices or that's bascially it?

im actually not sure of the difference they both work so it doesn't really matter which one you get, also there will be a little white power cable connected into the back of the lite-on drive, so you would press eject and then pull the cord out of the back real quick, and if you get the ck3 yeah thats pretty much it, as long as you have a sata card and cable.

so it's just a matter of pulling the white cord off and on? so that's what they meant by turning off and then quickly turning it on. i thought there is a switch on the ck3 board where it has the on/off, i still dont understand where the dvd drive power is going to be coming from? i know that one end of the white cord goes to the back of the liteon, where does the other end goes? I am trying to understand as much as possible before i purchase the ck3
on the noob liteon modding, it says : When ready, hold the Spear, Probe, or whatever you have on the R707 point
what does this mean? what spear, probe? i am confused at this point.

basically ur saying i have to buy two devices? first it's the ck3 and the second one is the probe add-on. i dont want to do any soldering, so i am guessing i have to buy both of them in order for it to work.
the total will come out to be 90 dollars something right?

yeah thats right you have to buy both, but if you buy the xtractor its much cheaper does the same thing and all together with the spear add-on it'll cost around 60. not sure about the ck3 with the add-on

ic, 60 is a descent price. how does the spear addon work though? where do u point the sharp pointy metal at?

is 60 decent price for the ck3 or xtractor?, which one are you asking about, and you point and hold the metal tip on the R707 point on the dvd drive.

acutally i found someone on craglist that can mod it for me
i dont have the guts to mod it, i am scared i will mess up my 360.

just make sure you don't get ripped off. if you change your mind and do it yourself as long as your careful and follow along with the instructions, its really not that hard,and you won't mess up.

I'm tempted to do this myself for the first but time there is just one problem, i don't have a desktop.
the CK3 pro, unless i misunderstood, can have everything powered from the 360. So i don't need to go hooking up DVD drive to a desktop, correct? I can simply connect via usb to my laptop and do everything from there?
