If it's timing out, you COULD be too far away from your router. But I don't know much about networking, so that's the only advice I've got. Sorry.

Do everything Automatic without security on your router. Try that. If that then works, put some security on your router. Should'nt change anything apart from the fact you have to enter the security key on your ps3.

77% is fine.
Google the make of your router and find the IP address of the router. Mine is 192.168.2.1 so it should be something similar.
Enter the ip address into your browser on the pc and that will open up the security of your router. In here you can turn security off.
Now scan for the router on your ps3 and like i said, use auto for everything you can.

are u sure ur typing in ur encryption key correctly?
i had the same problem then after a half hour realized that the lowercase "L" i had shouldve been an uppercase "I" ...
copy ur key on ur computer and paste it in word then change the font to something large, wacky, and all caps to double check what u have ...

Now you know it is the internet security thats stopping you from connecting atleast.
Go back into the router settings and double check your password key. Write it down.
Now on the ps3, go to network settings, choose wireless, scan for router and enter the security key, double checking the key. Choose auto for everything else or the first highlighted option. Then it will do a test. hopefully everything works.

so just recently my ps3 decided to stop working online
i had it on wireless and everything on automatic, it worked flawlessly
i have a linksys wrt54gl
i tried going wired and i get the same issue, it barely connects..the only way i can maintain a stable connection is if i connect the ps3 directly to the modem which i do not want to do. can anyone here help me/figure whats wrong?? i have googled and gone on every forum for ps3 help possible and NO ONE has been able to help me out...
