I have a PS3 and a Sony Bravia KDL-37P3020 which was manufactured on 11/2007. The problem is that I could be halfway through a game and the picture just goes and I cannot get it back. Sometimes like on Christmas Eve, I sat down to watch a Blu Ray and nothing, just a black screen. Other times I can play for 2 hours and no problems at all.
I have a gold plated HDMI cable which cost me about ?40, so I would presume that it would be decent enough, but I have no problem being corrected if I am wrong.
Does anyone know if this is a known problem with the hardware or is it possibly just a cable isuue.
ok i had this problem, it was that the HDMI cord was not plugged in all the way, try to plug it in a little bit more, another cause may be a faulty wire, does it do it with just the ps3 or also other hd products, try plugging the ps3 in threw the RCA cords and see if it does it, my guess would be faulty hdmi port or faulty wire, or just not plugged in all the way, maybe you move things around quite often and jarred it loose

Awwww Yeah Dark_Alex Rulez
It is definitely plugged in all the way. This happens often enough that I have unplugged and replugged and swapped the ends around so many times. I do not have any other HD equipment so I cannot answer that. I will check out the RCA cables tomorrow and report back.
Cost doesn't usually mean a cord is any better, most of the 10 dollar cords work as well as the 120 dollar ones for short-medium distances. You might have some dust or something in the ports of the ps3 or tv, I'd get can of compressed air and clean them out, if that doesn't work buy a cheap hdmi cable to try, I wouldn't waste your money on one of the expensive ones.
OK, I purchased another HDMI cable and watched a DVD for an hour without any problems. I will play a PS3 game later on and maybe stick a Blu-Ray Movie in to see if it makes any difference.
I will let you know if it is solved.
Thanks again for your responses.
