all discs were burnt successfully but either were or were not recognised on the Wii

what firmware is your wii? If any of the games are "trucha signed" they will not work on 3.3 or later FW. There is no way of knowing if the discs are trucha when you DL them. Also, many people on the forum suggest using verbatim discs at 4x with imgburn, that usually equals success. ---Chikn

I have a 3.2 FW Wii chipped with a wiikey, and I have the same problem. Games that do no work, I run them with Backup Loader from the Homebrew Channel. I guess it depends on the type of game downloaded, wether it's for a chipped wii or for Backup Loader. I am probably wrong...

hi again,
after a couple of days on the beer.....i tried the wiibrickblocker on one of the iso's i had tried to burn before (Family Party), burned the disc....and............hey presto it worked.........
i have used wiibrickblocker on every iso i had downloaded and have now succesfully burned 6 games on the bounce............just need more iso's to download....
so i recommend you use wiibrickblocker v1.32r on every iso !!!!
happy gaming

I don't know if discs with brick blocker will work on Wii FW 3.3 or higher, someone else can probably answer that. Does Brickblocker trucha sign the disc? Either way you should be able to get around the trucha signing by running them through GeckoOS. Do you have HBC installed? If so have you tried to run any of the "bad" burns through GeckoOS? That may give some insight as to whether it's a bad burn or a funny rip.
I wonder if the Wiikey 2, D2Pro and other chips with system update blocking stop discs with updates from even checking what FW the Wii is at and then the disc won't run. I have a D2Pro for D2E with the latest FW and US Wii at FW 3.3 but I haven't had any trouble so my theory might be shot.

hi chiknltl,
im not sure what you mean about geckoOS...im assuming this is some homebrew? Anyway since my last post i have downloaded and burnt a further 4 games without a problem...so all i can say is that the problem must have been in the updating.....
think i read somewhere that the wii firmware updates wouldn't affect the chip installed, but i aint taking any chances (until i read something to the contrary)
all the best

So far no updates effect or detect our mod chips. GeckoOS is an application you can use in the HomeBrew Channel to launch game discs and other games. Glad to hear you got it working consistently. ---Chikn

I believe you only need to use brickblocker if you play out of region games, PAL if your Wii is NTSC, or vise-versa. The Wiikey 2 has a system update blocking feature as well. There are a couple of newer games out now that will update you to 3.4 FW but I think there are work arounds, otherwise no real benefit. ---Chikn

just to clear things in my head (very small...thatz why it needs clearing)....

Well, if the games are from your region it is SAFE to update. That is not to say that you WANT to update. If you are at FW 3.2 and the game has a 3.4 update you may not want to update to 3.4. If you are at 3.2 and the game has a 3.2 update on it the game will notify you that you need to update the first time you put it in, it will search for the update, then once it finds that the system is already at 3.2 it will move on to the game loading screen. It's good to know what games have what updates on them. Do not update with an out of region game. You can Brick your Wii. ---Chikn
