I have a mkv file. IMAX coral reef I think it's called. I tsmux it just like any other mkv file I have and split it into 3.5gb chunks and do the blu ray option. The mkv is High@4.1 and 1080p 1920x1080 res. Just like other movies I have done the same with. Well when I try to run the blu ray stream on my ps3 there is no video? Does anyone know why this could be? I run AVCHDme on all my blue ray outputs and this is the only file that I get audio and no video. But when I play the stream file on my laptop it runs fine. When I tsmuxer it and change to the high@4.1 to high@4.0 it still doesn't work. Is there something up with this video that I don't know about? Thanks

It seems like it's probably an encoding issue. The video was likely originally encoded with the PC in mind, not the PS3.

I believe the only way to fix this is to re-encode it using MeGUI. You can leave the profile at 4.1, as that isn't the problem.

When you're re-encoding, you can use MeGUI's bitrate calculator to keep the quality of the video the same.

Once that's done, you can re-mux the new video stream with the old audio (from the .mkv) in tsMuxer, and that SHOULD fix your issue.

Thanks, I'm up and running MeGUI, The first couple times the 264 output filesize was only about 100MB and not the 4GB that tsmuxer demuxes the 264 file to. So, I saw your note on the bitrate calculator but I don't see an option to keep video output the same as the original file. Can you help me out with any settings or how you would do it? I'll keep working on it and post back. Thanks!

Ok, let me know if I'm doing this wrong. I'm not really sure what to with the avisynth script page that pops up when I load my mkv file so I just hit save. Then I'm back at the main page and another window is open with the video freezeframed like in the middle of the movie or something. Anyway, when I go to bitrate calculator I change the file size to that of 1DVD and I apply the settings. then back at the main page I have file format RAWAVC and the output name of the 264 file. I hit enqueue and an error window pops up saying job creation aborted due to invalid avisynth script.

Yeah, I wouldn't trust MeGUI's Avisynth script creator.

If anything, I'd just do the following:

1.) Open up Notepad.

2.) Type in:

DirectShowSource("C:/...path.../yourvideo.mkv")

3.) Save as something easy to remember, and make sure the extension is .avs. You've just created an Avisynth script. Congrats!

Then load this script in MeGUI (where it says Avisynth script), and you should get the same thing. From there, choose your x264 profile, set the bitrate, and click enqueue. You SHOULD get it going no prob. If you do keep getting errors, let me know.

As for the bitrate calculator, there's no option to keep it the same, but all you have to do is, under "Total Size," choose "Select size..." and enter however large your video is. This will almost guarantee a 0% quality loss during the encoding process.
