Legally Backed up PS3 Games

Ok first off if this is against the rules I apologize profusely.

I own a 60gb PS3 which I made into a 250gb ps3 (really quite simple)

I own about 30 titles legitmately for this unit and would like to safeguard my investment.

On one of my PCs i have a Lite on DH-401s which reads PS3 games, and a LG GBW-H20L. Now as I said at 60.00 + CDN per game i want to make sure I have backups. I purchased a bunch of verbatim BD-R discs and have used some trying to make a backup of one of my games Resistance 2. I don't put these ISO images online or offer them in any way for public consumption. I just want to make sure that if my 15month old daughter gets her destructive little hands on one of my games i don't have to trump off to best buy to get another one. I have made the image with imgburn and burnt the iso back to a blank BD-R. On the PC all looks good they both show as the same information. Obviously if there is some copy protection I am not seeing I will not know if it did not transfer to the backup. When I load the backup into the drive on my PS3 it only shows as a data disc and I can browse the content in one of the other options like photo or video but it does not show in my game menu.

As I said I own the original so I can play the game from that. I don't want to open my PS3 up to play a backup.

I guess my questions are two fold

1. Is there a way to make these discs playable in the case of loss of original.

2. Do you think sony will provide or sell you new media if you can provide the original packaging and a backup disc holding the game content. (and for those of you who like the sarcastic response I don't mean a replacement media that costs the same as the original ;-) )

I have searched off and on for about a week now and have found nothing on the net that does not refer to a hacked ISO that was dumped from a linux Install. I already have three PC versions of linux and see no need to install it on my PS3. The one thing I did see that I can't find any real information on is a patch to run on the ISO image to make it playable. (Probably a tool for pirating but may work for legitimate backups as well)

These days, the words "Legal backups" should not even be in the same sentence according to the powers that be.

2. Would never happen in a million years. Even if you had the receipt for the game.

A PS3 hack is being worked on, but it may never happen. And if it does, it will be a while.
