If your thinking of investing on a PS3 now is a good time as more and more good exclusive games are coming out for it. Killzone 2, God of War 3, InFamous, and Heavy Rain are a few to come to mind.
Why were you thinking of getting a PS3? I have a 360 myself but only because MS implemented the 3 year warranty and there was a handful of games that I did not want to miss out on. So far that's not really working out for me because the only game I enjoyed on the 360 that was a MS exclusive and was my type of game was gears 1 and 2 and Dead Rising. You can pretty much get any 3rd part game on both consoles.
I prefer the PS3 for free online gaming and contrary to what people have told you about PSN it works well for online gaming. I never found any major differences playing COD: World at War on live or the Playstation Network.

...quick question, Bawango:
...
...you got World at War? And for BOTH PS3 and 360?
Why would you torture yourself like that?
:P
Anyway, wasn't there something eerily similar to this just a few threads ago?
That said, Lil' Big Planet is alright, and the games are getting better (than 360 exclusives? Hard to say), and the "killer apps" you can put on the PS3 are sort of limited only by your motivation and what Linux can handle.
I know that doesn't help you decide at all, but it's hard to not turn this into another PS3 vs. 360 deba(te/cle).

I'd be less excited about LittleBig Planet, we know how they tried to hype up the game, but reading some reviews most people have said it's OK for a bit but then get boring as the only real feature the game has s being able to build your own levels which can take some time.
IDK as i have not bought the game but if you want it go ahead and get it.
On a side note, with this recession going on and people less willing to spend their money, dont you think Sony should reduce the priceof the console now?

The recession hasn't really effected the gaming industry.

Little Big Planet is as fun as you have time for. It has the potential for being a great game if you have the time to give to it. The packaged levels are entertaining, and the stuff you get in story mode help you build in creator mode. It's not enough to complete the story mode. You need to revisit levels to unlock secrets that you find in other levels. So there is replay value. After you complete the story mode you also have access to the community, where people post their creations. There are hundreds of user creations to mess around with that provide more entertainment value. It's also fun to get a few friends to join you online, either in a packaged level, or a user created level.
Then there is creator mode. Which is what they hyped in the first place. Despite the reviews, I thnk the game is more than just "OK". Creaor mode is really amazing, but......you need to have the time to spend and an imagination, and also a lot of patience. You have control of everything and you can make anything. I went through all of the tutorials and started to create, but realized that I just had no time in the real world. I wanted to mess around with other games, and once I took a break, I lost my creativity. I sat down with my kids and drew some plans to build a nice level, so they had a chance to mess around with it. I still want to create something nice to surprise them with.

Lots of good info there Bawango except that from my understanding not all 360's are covered by the 3 year RROD warranty (only earlier models are covered). Then maybe/possibly a few versions afterwards that are assumed as manufactured before the Falcon model.
But as I said, from my understanding the Falcon model and afterward does not fall under the 3 year warranty. I would suggest calling MS on the issue as stated, and they will most likely confirm that there is only a 1 year warranty on Falcons and after. But I do asmit this is from my understanding and what I have heard not confirmed myself as when my 360 RROD (3x already) I just fixed it myself and haven't had the "pleasure" of calling MS to deal with it.

That seems a bit ladened with your own opinion about the reviews. The gaming media has actually scored this game with many perfect scores and LOTS of 90+ and is averaging a 95 on Metacritic. Plus it has won quite a few Game of the Year, Most Innovative etc. type awards. I personally would like to pick it up just for the newest MGS add-on that enables the usage of paint guns!

I have a Wii too. But it's been on time out. I am punishing it for not having any good games over the holidays :P

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I hope that's not true but then again my 360 does not get enough use to get the dreaded RRoD. I will have to calls and ask MS if the model I have is in fact covered for 3 years. If it in fact does not have the 3 year warranty It's going to get modded (after the year warranty is done) :)

I have been meaning to call MS about this as well to actually confirm 100% as I HATE being misinformed or passing off any "iffy" information. But if you do, please reply here and/or in a PM to me.

I would definitely compare it to a next gen Super Mario Bros. Man, if Nintendo created a SMB with the level of detail of LBP for a new console, I would buy it instantly. It's not a 3D in the truest sense, but it works so well. 3D character and environment design in a 2D landscape on 3 separate planes. It would be like taking the SNES versions of SMB, beefing up the graphics and adding 2 more 2D planes. Brilliant IMO. Before the Wii came out, I was hoping that the next Mario would have characters with this generations level of detail. And after seeing LBP, I know exactly what I wanted from them. I hope Nintendo emulates this for their next console. A SMB in LBP style would be an awesome throwback to the 2D versions.
