Depends who will mod it for you.

Yes

4. How easy is it to flash yourself?-

If you can follow instructions then very easy. But since you say that you are not computer literate then I would not suggest you do it. Find a modder to do it for you.

5. What items will you need?-

A compatible SATA chipset to connect the 360 drive to. Google Textbook's Guide to 360 Flashing 2008 edition.
