So I'm planning to buy a PS3 when I find a worthy deal (basically a game, 2 controllers and console for 400 or less) but I need some answers before I do this, so I'll state them in numbered form:

1) Do the reported "PS3 to HDMI" cable actually do anything different? or are they just regular HDMI 1.3a cables advertised being specific for PS3 to raise price

2) Will any HDMI to DVI converter/adaptor do if I were to plug it into my monitor? (Samsung 245BW with VGA and DVI(HDCP compliant) or is there a specific thing on the adaptor I should watch out for?

3) Do I need to buy any audio cables/adaptors to hook up the sound from the PS3 to a single 3.5mm stereo jack (its gonna be plugged into my computer speakers, which has that 3.5mm jack input)

4) Can a Computer USB port be used to charge a PS3 controller? or is it not recommended

5) Does the PS3 require its own wall plug like the Xbox360? (I say this cause my bro's 360 fried the power block)

6) Any other issues that might come up with PS3 for playing on monitor?

Sofar, I know my monitor does not have 1:1 pixel mapping, so 1080p will be stretched vertically 60pixels bottom and top, but other than that, any answer would be greatly appreciated

1.)Standard HDMI cable

2,)All you will need is an HDMI to DVI cable. DVI does not carry sound so you will need to figure out sound on your own. I use the standard A/V cables that were supplied with my PS3 and hook them into this cheap surround sound I have.

3.)Yes you will need an adapter if you plan to hook up stereo speakers. Use the RCA to 3.5 millimeter adapter. I think this is what you will need here.

4.) I charge mine with a PC USB port all the time.

5.)I have my PS3 hooked up through a strip surge protector. I have done so for 2 years.

6.)I play on a monitor and I actually prefer it over my HDTV. The monitor you have should return excellent picture quality.
