Help with old PS3 hard drive

Hi, I have recently upgraded to a 320GB HD on my PS3. I now have the old 40GB that I'd like to use. I bought a Nippon Labs EN-25SATA 2.5" USB 2.0 External Enclosure (as seen here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817816001 )

I partitioned the HD with partition magic as FAT32 in 2 20gb partitions.

I wanted to transfer some movies onto this HD to play on PS3, plugged it into the PS3. It found the ext hd but said "no files found". The movies were .AVI format

Then I tried some music, same thing. They were MP3 format.

Any suggestions? or link to a tuturial to do this correctly. I searched and searched but only found threads on how to change the HD or how to format it.

Ok I ogt it. I didnt try a search just for external HD.

You could just press triangle on the Hardrive icon,it should bring up a menu then you just select play all."

Uh... sorry to bust your bubble, but formatting the drive erased everything you had on there. Game data/saves, videos, music, pictures, everything.
