How to remove pictures from PS3 Hard drive?

A friend of mine has bricked his PS3. He is wanting to pull the pictures that are on the hard drive off before running through recovery manager. Does any one know how this can be done? All he wants is his pictures. Thank you for your help.

Try hooking up the hard drive to your pc, You should be able to get the pictures that way.

When I hook it up to my pc it is unallocated space and you can't see anything on it. I have tried putting it is a usb external enclosure to hook it up to pc and ps3 but nothing.

I doubt the PC will recognize the drive as it (the drive) is formatted in some weird Sony-exclusive file system, not fat32 or NTFS or anything like that.

...or if PCs can recognize them, then it might be that your friend already formatted the drive. Maybe? Or you could try sticking it into another PS3. Just to throw it out there.

Using a progarm like Easy Recovery Professional might allow you to pull the data off the drive while still formatted for a PS3.

The pictures are gone,there is no way of getting them off the harddrive,sticking the harddrive in another PS3 wont help either as you will be prompted to format.
