I have the latest version of dvd shrink. I have been playing around with the setting [I like to learn] in dvd shrink and nero. What I have done is change a setting [s] and now nero won't start the burn process when dvd shrink is done encoding. I have to do it manually. I do have in dvd shrink [enable burning with nero] check. Thanks for any help. Alan

Thanks for the help. When I first installed DVD Shrink and did a backup of my dvd. The program did it all. It would not stop till it burn the dvd. I assume it started Nero after the encoding was done and ran in the background. That the way I'm trying to get back to. Unfortunately since I had played with the settings I now have to manually start Nero to burn the dvd.

acart125,
If I understand you, you changed the settings and would now like to set them so that Nero burns in the background like it's supposed too.
If that's right, when you click "edit" next time, go to preferences, then to the I/O tab and put a check in the box that says "enable burning with Nero" - and that will do it -

First uninstall then reinstall it H---L I do the some thing all the time I always seem to love to play around with the properties of new software. This is what I do a lot of the time when I get into it over my hand, SO I just uninstall and do it over. Now for me, I learn from what I just did and not repute it. Hell=That?s what makes the computers fun( I?m 70 and having a ball)

i have the shrink program and the Nero.
does Nero stop working after a certain time.
do we have to purchase the Nero program for the shrink program to keep working automatically.
i have done a few backups and stoped for about a week and now it never puts the title on the blank disk or even askes or even looks for a blank disk. if this would be correct Nero would be worth the money, just wanting to make sure before i purchase, thanks

That will be up to what you think, some will say yes and others may will say no. I have it, but I have only use it one time as I also use DVD Shrink, DVD X Copy XPress( the old one)and DVD X Maker for the VHS as will as Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 as will as the Nero StartSmart 95% of all DVDs can be made with DVD Shrink
You will not go rong by buying it as it is the buning part for the Shrink

scintln,
The Nero you had was a 30-day trial - after that time it doesn't work anymore :-(
What you can do is "Google" the net and find Nero version 5.5 - you'll only have to pay about $10.00 for it and Shrink can use that for your "automatic" burning saving you about $60.00 cold, hard cash :-)

Lot of people are reporting problems with Nero installation/operation/burning.I wonder if somebody has experience with back ups with DVD Shrink and windows-xp's built in burner. Why spend money on Nero and risk if windows does the job free? Just curious.

Thanks to everyone for there help. I finally figured what I had done. As I stated in the beginning, Nero would not start after DVD Shrink finish encoding the DVD. I would have to manually start the burn process. Now also remember I had played with some settings in DVD Shrink /nero and this when my problem started. I also have a DVD program so I can watch movies on my computer. Well at the same time I was playing around with the settings I had also made a change in my device manger. I un-check the auto insert notification for my DVD and DVD burner so the movie program would not start automatically. [and what this really has to with my problem eludes me] and for some reason I remember this, so I went back re-check it. Now it works like it is suppose to, every time. Thanks again. Alan

Sorry! I have xp home and was under the impression that xp pro has cd/dvd writing capabilities. I was wrong. But, wouldn't it be nice if future windows version has burning program since dvd writing drives are so affordable and most pc firms are bundling it.

I must admit I haven't seen any thread explaining Shrink>Decrypter method but...
I think it could be done with Shrink then either Burnatonce/IMGtool though :)
(Nero is the obvious choice though as Shrink has built in Nero-compatibility)
Quote: And thanks for the links too.
hehe , yeah I have added a few over the yrs
Thanks for kind words bro
