So I went to Costco(Sam's Club) and bought a PS3 package for my girlfriend's little brother. I brought it over and we set it up for him right before superbowl. So he comes home with a ps3 in his backpack from his friends house. I guess he had brought his system over to a friends house to play.
So I told my girlfriend pack it up and i'll go return it to costco at halftime.
So I returned the PS3 package at halftime...in a rush. Got back to my girlfriends and she had repackaged the wrong one...now we have the new ps3 system and the old one is at Costco which is closed now.
Fortunately her brother doesn't care, he likes having the new one. Will everything work out or do I need to go back?
I dunno, that depends. Did your gf's brother have a "better" old model? Or is it identical to the new one you got? (What's the hard drive size?)
There might be game saves and videos and pictures and stuff on there that he might want to keep, but if he's liking the new system, there shouldn't be much of a problem.
Besides, I think it'd be tough to get it the next day, especially if they had a whole half-day to re-shelf it.
...then again, you could probably just bring a receipt and they could probably try looking it up. I dunno, maybe.
Also, I don't want to get in trouble for this. I mean I've been shopping at costco for about 5 years and I've never done anything dishonest like that on purpose. By tomorrow it will have been 30 hours by the time I get off work to get back to it. I'm sure it will be gone.
Well, to be honest, the old 60GB model is a heck of a lot better than the new ones, just in terms of number of inputs (2 more USB ports as well as an SD card reader) and PS2 backwards compatibility through hardware emulation.
But if he likes it, then I don't think there's anything wrong with that. If you really want, you can call try calling them up before/during work or so and letting them know. They can probably find the package, keep it safe and stuff, and then you can come get it. That said, I don't think there'll be any fuss from Costco as long as they don't know about it.
But yeah... If he likes it, I don't think there'd be any problems. I mean, he's happy, Costco is happy once they sell the wrongfully-returned PS3, and the person who gets it will be surprised to see that they actually have a better unit than what they paid for.
...unless it's broken or something. Then they won't be so happy.
