Hello. I'd be really happy if you'd help me with this little request :)

Okay, so i'm stuck in evil forest just before fighting the Plant Brain, after it is dead there will be fmv with party running and all plants turning into stone (blank turning into stone....) And i can't get past that fmv, because my CD it scratched and the FMV will just freeze my game.

So what i am asking you for, is you to play past it and save in the world map which comes just a little after the FMV (Wont take too long...!)

My PS2 Lens just broke, and i'm not willing to repair it for a while, having a PS3 now. Usually i got past the scene with my ps2 (opening lid trick to skip FMV, but this wont work in PS3.)

Fast help would be REALLY REALLY appreciated, as i want to play this game again.

Save game included just before fighting the plant brain.

Thanks in advance ! =)

Here is my ff9 save just before plant brain: http://www.filefactory.com/file/afgd240/n/PS3_rar

I was gonna suggest you just eject it from your PS3 ('cuz that should do the whole "skipping of the FMV" thing, too, no?), but then you had that save right there perfectly and it was all very honky-dory. Thanks for making it easy.

...but wait. You said you've got a Euro PS3? Is your FFIX save also a PAL one, then? If it is, I won't be able to help out. I'll try, though.

Well, I've managed to change the region on it to US (hopefully), so now all I need to figure out is how to convert either the .mcs (single save) or .mc (memory card image) to .psv, or how to get the save onto my old PS1 memory card with my memory card adapter.

I managed to find a driver for the memory card adapter, so once I get back to the computer, I'll see how it works out. I'm hoping I can figure this stuff out, because it would be infinitely helpful, not just to you, but to myself, as well. (And probably to anyone else who's trying to convert PS1/2 saves.)

Anyway. Wish me luck.

And if anyone else is willing to help out, their help would be more than welcome. Someone with a PAL PS3, perhaps... would make things a LOT easier.

So did it turn out into mcs. file when you converted it? If not, only thing i need is PAL save after the Plant Brain is killed (in the world map) And of course, i need a PSV.-file, because i'm playing on ps3 (Obviously:p)

Thanks again, at least there is one helpful person on this board;)

Okay, so status report.

I've managed to get the save ONTO the memory card, but it's still not being recognized by the PS3. (Changed region code and everything, y'know.) Anyway, now I've tried something else, but the thing is that there's a checksum implemented, and it might be impossible to bypass it without a Gameshark code. But anyway.

Right now it doesn't work. One more try, and if it still doesn't work, then it's never gonna work.

EDIT:

Success!

I've managed to get it to work. The play-through's done, and now all I've gotta do is re-change the region code and stuff and get it back to a .psv state. Then it's right back to ya!

Wish me luck on that. I should have it for you by tomorrow at latest.

Nice, and good luck :)

I hope there is a way to convert it into a .psv so i'm finally able to play this again.

Thanks for your work in advance :)

There you go. Hopefully that'll work out just fine for you.

I'll post the steps later on, just in case anyone else only has a PS3 Memory Card Adapter and wants to put a save (like, say, any of those DexDrive saves and whatnot) onto their Memory Card. (...but it'll only work for PS1 games so far, so I dunno how useful it'll be.)

Anyway, try that out and let me know how well it works out.

Cool. That's good, then. And you say you're gonna keep it on your PC. Are you gonna play it with an emulator, then?

If you are, then there's some tools you can use to convert the save over to something like ePSXe or PCSX.

EDIT:

There's some things I want to try first (namely converting Gamefaq saves from various formats) before writing those steps, or else what I did only really applies to FFIX.

Oh, I see. You're gonna keep the save file on the PC and reuse it whenever you start up another game. Gotcha.

...but if you're gonna do that, why not just create another memory card on the PS3 and store it on there? That way, you can be sure that it's on the PS3 (and won't accidentally get deleted or anything), and then you can just copy it to another virtual memory card whenever you need to use it?

Just for discussion's sake, of course. No need to answer if you don't want to.
