A yellow light means you've got a general hardware failure. So it could be your hard drive, your motherboard, your disc drive, your GPU, your CPU, your fan, your power supply unit...

And opening up a ylod ps3 is always a craps shoot unless there's already evidence of what failed because after the warranty seal breaks you can even pay them to fix it. I would not suggest doing it at all.
