I bricked my Lite-on drive. I put the cable in the wrong way trying to flash it. Can I just purchase anoter lIte-on drive and swap the PCB without extracting the key, etc?

The white power cable. It fried the PCB. There's a hole right behind the power connecter. I still managed to extract the key.

If you have the Key, Inquiry, Identify, and serial information... Then yes, you can flash that information to another Lite-ON drive.

in your original post you said "without extracting the key", which is why i said no ... then later you said you have the key...

like lee said if you have a valid copy of the inquiry, identify and key.bin files then yes you can swap the PCB or swap the drive etc etc... and flash it with the information you extracted from the fried drive...

i dunno why you would swap the PCB is it really that much cheaper than just buying a new liteon drive ?? at least with a brand new one you dont have the risk of screwing it up when you swap the PCB

I do have the key. I do have replacement Lite-on drive. Someone told if I just swap the PCB, I don't have to spoof it. It will work. But I'm not sure about that. what do you think?

i like how in less than 3 hours you go from, i dont have the key or you do have the key along with a fried drive to having the key and a brand new drive.

but swapping out the PCB should work as it can be done with other drives, but i would just flash it as you are going to have to flash the new drive in order to play burnt games anyways.

Why would you want to put a fried PCB board into a different Lite-ON drive? Your PCB board is shot. You can't take a different PCB board that is married to a different motherboard, and expect it to work in conjuction with your orginal motherboard. You said you have the Key... but do you have any other valid information of the fried PCB board?

hes not putting the fried board in a new drive, hes replacing his fried board with a new board. and it would work, as this has been done with other drives such as sammy ms25, 27s and several hitachis. just has to make sure that the drive models are exactly the same.

Isn't that new PCB board going to contain information (different drive key and inquiry) from another 360?

No you misunderstood me. I was gonna replace the burnt PCB with a new one from another Lite-on drive . I was told that if I just replace the PCB then I didn't have to do the key thing. But I guess that's not true. so I will replace the entire drive. But how do you spoof Lite-on drives? I know how to flash them. But I don't know steps for exchanging drives. Could you tell me?

not sure as i havent messed with a lite-on yet. but i know with sammys you can swap the PCB boards out if they are the same exact model and all will be fine.

Ok... I guess I'm not making myself clear... You fried the PCB board that is married to your ORIGINAL 360 Motherboard. SO... all your drive information (Key, Inquiry, Identify, and serial inforamtion) is on the FRIED PCB board. And you want to take a completely diffrent Lite-ON PCB board, that may contain a different drive key, inquiry, identify, and serial information, or no information at all, and expect it to work with your original 360 motherboard? I understand the swapping technique for a GOOD PCB board, but I am baffled at how you expect a different PCB board to work with your original 360 motherboard.

I understand the fact of PCB swapping as long as the model is the same. But to take a GOOD PCB board and put it back into his original drive without giving the PCB board the proper information to communicate with the 360 motherboard.... won't work. Save yourself the time of swapping PCB boards, and just flash your Key, Inquiry, Identify, and serial information of your ORIGINAL Lite-ON drive... to the GOOD Lite-ON drive.

Check the serial information of the dummy.bin. Make sure there is valid info in there. If the majority of it is FF's except for the first line you are going to have to add in some serial info off of your drive.

In order to replace your drive you will have to create a firmware that contains the key you originally extracted from the liteon before it fried into another drive and spoof that firmware (if its not a liteon) to a liteon. A good program to do this with is firmware toolbox (the most up to date version). This firmware will be replaced with the PCB board or replacement drive. You cannot just replace the PCB board and expect it to work. If you do that the xbox will not read games, only dvds, cds, etc. I recommend the samsung ms25/28 model. Its very easy to get your hands on one of them through gbay. The flashing process is very easy as well. If you can find a benq for a relatively cheap price compared to the samsung I would get that, but through experience I haven't been able to find any. If you already do have a replacement for the liteon use that, but you have to implant the key into that replacement drive and spoof it (if its not a liteon) or else it will not function properly. Your very lucky to still have your key.

I have a Samsung drive. It's already flashed and I don't have the original firmware. So I ordered a Lite-on from ebay.

Before you open your dummy.bin with Jungleflasher, open it with DSDBFixer. That will allow you to repair the missing serial info.

Then you can use Jungleflasher .43.

The key info from the broken Lite-on was valid, and I was able to spoof it with Jungleflasher. Now when get my new Lite-On drive, I will erase that firmware and flash with the spoofed custom firware from the broken drive. Does that sound about right?
