if u write the purchase date in the online service request wrong so its in warranty even though its not, will Sony fix it for free then or will they find out lol....

You still have to send in a recipt/proof of purchase and that will have the date on it.

How long out of warranty is it? anything up to 6 months out of warranty (18 months total) and there is a chance they will do it for free just by calling sony. I tried to get sony to fix mine out of warranty but it was 22 months when my 60gb got the YLOD.

i got it in October 2007 but then when i fill out the online service request it says out of warranty and tells me $149. should i call them?

Yeah and you will have to specifically ask to speak to someone higher up as the general phone operaters don't have the authority to do it for you. Basically, you should mention other sony items you may have like lcd's, consoles so that they know you are an avid sony supporter and tell them you can provide serial numbers if need be. Then let them know how all those other items are in good working order and you're dissapointed because you weren't expecting a sony product (The PS3) to fail in such a short amount of time.

Remember to be polite and courteous, and make sure you tell them that the ps3 was left in an open space at all times.

The online form does not allow for anything other than 12 months.
