NTSC DVD Playback on UK PS3

I have a DVD someone got me as a gift from the US and am having trouble getting it to work. It is a region 1 NTSC DVD.

I don't have a DVD player in my room because i just use my PS3. When i try to watch it all get is a blank grey screen.

I am using HDMI output and have tried it at 576p, 720p and 1080i and still no luck.

Can anyone help with this?

You cant play the dvd since its Region 1 and the PS3 Is region 2.

Rip the DVD on your computer take out region protection look on the guides on here for backing up dvd's
