guys

i'm still a noob about the ps3

i was starting my ps3 then the main menu won't appear.

i can't see anything except for that bgrey line theme.

all the buttons aren't on the screen?

what should i do?

i need help asap. please guys

Ill try to help you. You have to excuse my english.
I had the same problem a couple a days ago. It happened when I turned off the PS3 on bootup with the main power switch.

This is what I did: Turn on the PS3. Just as its about to start, hold the on/off button so it turns off. Then turn on and keep holding till you hear 1 beep.... keep holding till you hear 2 more beeps then let go. It will come up a menu on your screen. I dont remember what the files are called, but you have to restore the system files.
When its finished I took a backup of the system, then I formatted the system and restored my backup.

yea its never good to use the back switch, cutting power to the HDD, can damage it or leave bits of critical info out that needed to be written to the hdd.
