Its a long story Anyways i have a ps3 40 gig got it dec 07 the blu-ray just failed sucks. Anyways My friend had a friend living at his house his friend just bought a 80 gig last month his friend did not pay him rent and left. So not being in a good mood he offered me the blu-ray drive out of his friend ps3 will it work in my 40 gig just wondering. He wants to send it to his former fiend without the drive. I know its screwed up but i guess. And if not what replacement drive do i need for my "model ps3 cechg01" any help would be great
P.s i was reading into a KEM 400AAA replacement drive any one know anything about that
wait, y doesnt ur friend just give u the new 80 gig and just swap the drives, then u dont have to kill a warranty, iether that or back up ur 40 gig onto a external drive, wipe the 80 gig, adn put ur 40 gig info on the 80 gig, i mean come on, 40 more gigs, but to ur question im pretty sure u can swap them.
That friend of his would be pissed. Is this the old 80 gig with the better features or the new 80 gig with the worser feature? I think it should work either way whether it is the old or new 80 gig. But be very careful of electro-static discharge during the switch. Ground the 2 ps3's the best way you can. I think as sky920 stated, swap the drives, that'd be much more better. Unless your 1 year warranty is over since you do have a 40 gig, long out of stock.
i just took apart the 40gig and the 80gig,,the new 80 gigs are very differant,,they have diff heatshinks, diff drive they cannot interchange with one another,,the new heatsinks look so much like the xboxs,,and the fan is bigger,,cheers
