ok...i would kike to start off by saying i am new to this forum and so far really enjoy it.next...
i have the 80gig ntsc wal-mart ps3.the ones that are out know.399.99us
since its not backwards compatible(if theres a way please let me know)i was wandering if i could burn iso files or what nots of ps1 games a play them in my ps3.i own 6 ps3 games and 1 ps1 game and was wandering if it was possible.

...well, actually, that's not correct. I suppose you could install Linux and emulate a PS1 that way. Then you'd just put your files onto the Linux part of the hard drive, and you should be able to play it.
But if you're gonna snatch some ISOs off the net, you may as well just play them on your PC. Most modern PCs (and heck, even some older computers like my 2.44GHz Pentium 4) can emulate the PS1 without any major hiccups.

You can probably play PS1 backups using the Swap Switch (see the thread somewhere around here), but it involves some basic soldering and technical know-how. You'll also have to open your PS3, which would void the warranty, so... yeah.
And I just realized that you should be able to buy some PS1 games from the PSN. Sure, you'd have to pay for them, but they WOULD be backups on your hard drive, technically.
