Not quite sure what you mean, but if you do get banned, only your modded 360 will, not your main one. You probably won't get banned if you never go on live with the modded 360.

i have dual layer burner in my laptop:
Optical Drive: Pioneer DVR-K17LF
8x DVD+/-R
8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW
4x DVD+/-R DL
5x ram.cfm" class="forum_link" target="_blank">DVD-RAM
24x CD-R/W
this would work for burning games??
and do i have to modify the firmware on the computer to read/rip games??

You will need a samsung SH-D162C (or SH-D162D, SH-D162B) flashed with kreon firmware to read the 360 games, you can get these from here http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Samsung-SH-D162D-...A1%7C240%3A1318 or here http://www.samsungdrives.com/ these cost about $50. If you are going to use a laptop to backup games then you will need to get an external version, or a special adapter.
Most modern dual layer burners work, aslong as it is capable of writing DVD-R DL (i think... that will need to be confirmed).

actually im gonna try the hot swap method im still reading up about it but i got an older dvd drive i can take apart..ill actually try it now(ripping rainbow6 vegas2) and repost if successful

hot swap worked with wx ripper
and even found an abgx360 tool
for some kind of patch
v1.0.1 newest i think
cod waw passed, now all i need are some verbatim dvd+r dl disks!!

yes, well you wont get banned from xbox live if the flashed xbox 360 has the latest firmware but if you worried about it than no you can't get in trouble for using a hdd on a flashed offline and then using a non flashed on line. but again as long as you use either Xtreme or ixtreme 5.51 the risk of being banned is extremely low

it took me forever to get my gamer tag back after playing on a buddies orig. modded xbox on halo 2 live
like 2 mins. i was banned .. now that i got it back im playing REAL safe.. im gonna use one of those free one months for awhile on the modded one just to be sure but if all goes well ill just sell the unmodded never open 360!
cause all ill need is this one!! = P

yes but the 5.1 works to they just updated it b/c the newer 360 games couldn't be played on 5.1 b/c of a safety feature in the firmware so I wouldn't worry about it but if you want to play some brand new burned games you have to update

no problem its a 2006 thou the unopened one i hear therre bad but it works beautiful for me
i bought the rrod for $39
how much you looking to spend?? $80 sound good?
i'd let it go for as little as $60 w/shipping
im not greedy and it comes with nothing just the console
hard drive n stuff would be expensive...

yes, well you wont get banned from xbox live if the flashed xbox 360 has the latest firmware but if you worried about it than no you can't get in trouble for using a hdd on a flashed offline and then using a non flashed on line. but again as long as you use either Xtreme or ixtreme 5.51 the risk of being banned is extremely low
Using 1.51 online can still get you banned... you could have the worlds safest possible firmware but it you'll still get banned if you have a shit backup.
Xtreme is an older version of ixtreme, if you use xtreme online you will get banned.

yes there is a chance but I've been playing mine for about a month and its xtreme so Thank you for telling me thats its out dated and do you know how to put additional firmware on fwtoolbox?? im not familiar with jungle flasher so it would help

well im still familarizing myself with all this but i assume you just redo your flash with ixtreme 1.51 im waiting for my verbatim discs for i got a great deal online at amazon once i got everything together working ill post with how i did it all..
cause as i said im still info searching = P

I have three laptops with dual layer burning capabilities, but according to your post, I need to purchase a dvd burner that is flashed with the kreon firmware? What about if I buy an external dvd burner from Costco or some electronics store?
