After using IfoEdit, process through either VobBlanker or FixVTS.

You called it a 'movie'. The pic you posted was not of a movie. VOBs always break at 1GB and are listed one after another.

None of your VOBs have hit the 1GB mark which leads me to assume they aren't part a 'movie' but separate video clips. Are you saying if you play your VOBs one after another they form a complete continuous 'movie'?

Hi attar, dialysis1 and MysticE - thanks to all of you,

Well, after using IfoEdit I have processed through FixVTS, however, then, when I converted that DVD with AutoGk, the size of the resulting AVI file was again almost 13 GB.
Interesting : I also converted each of the 5 VOB files to AVI with AVS Video Converter, but here the size of all the 5 AVI files is "only" 5,25 GB, (i.e. 1 GB larger than the size of the five VOB files, but much smaler than the size of the almost 13 GB AVI file I got from the conversion made with AutoGK). Is that's because the audio output selected in AutoGK was the original, namely AC3, whereas the audio output I selected in AVS Video Converter was MP3 192?

MysticE Sorry for my ignorance : The five VOB etc. files I downloaded from a P2P program are of a TV serial of 5 parts (i.e. Vob 1 is the first part, VOb 2 the second etc.) and when I called them a movie I was'nt aware that that makes any diference; although, now that you mentioned it, I recall that, indeed, in movie DVDs all the files, except of one, are of 1GB.

Any further suggestion. At least I would like to minimize the size of the 5 AVIs, so as to be able to burn them in one (not double layer) disc.

AVS Video Converter has a setting called Limit File Size.
What size did you set the files for?

Hi dialysis1 and MysticE,

dialysis1
After I got your meassge, I have tried the AVS Smart Converter (instead of the AVS Video Coverter); and there I found the following "selectable capacity option" : 650MB, 700 MB or 800MB.

My version of AVS Video Converter is 5.1 and I don't see there an Limit File Size option. Could you please guide me how to find the setting Limit File Size?

MysticE
Sorry for my ignorance: Hoe do I find what's the the average running time of these vids?

Thanks in advance

Setting them for 800 should have been fine. What size did each avi end up as?

Hi dyalisis1 and thanks,

VOB file 1 804 MB - AVI file 786 MB
VOB file 2 695 MB - AVI file 786 MB
VOB file 3 825 MB - AVI file 786 MB
VOB file 4 963 MB - AVI file 787 MB
VOB file 5 893 MB - AVI file 893 MB

Still, fo other cases in the future, I would like to find the Limit File Size option of AVS or AVS Smart.

Thanks in advance

Hi,
Speaking about corrupted DVDs - I wonder whether some of you can help me to solve the following problem I posed several days ago to Afterdawn's DVD+ R for newbies forum, and , so far, I've got no response to:-

I have downloaded an AVI file of 2.57 GBthat consists of about 30 short video clips.

Non of the following players can plays tht file:
Windows Media Player 11,
Media Player Classic 6.4.9.1,
Cyber PowerDVD 9 can play it.

Winamp plays it, however during the play the video looks so messy, that one is unable to identify what's there.

When I have tried to play it with the VLC, there appeared first the names of 20 video-clipses + one tab named "Next Menu" and another tab named "Main Menu". When I clicked on the "Next Menu" tab there appeared the names of 10 (other) video clips. When I clicked on the name of any of the clips, in most case it started to play that clip, however, sometimes it played the first clip.

Acording to "AVIcodec" the codec name of the above mentioned file is : ffdshow MPEG-4 Video.

I suspect the said file was a DVD which became corrupted, and would like to fix it, or, at least, to burn it so that the resulting disc would be playable on a stand-alone DVD player with the option to see the list of the clips and enable to select each of them.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I've got a message from creaky referring me to the rules of the Forum, apparently because I posed to you my problem about an AVI file playable only with VLC player, notwithstanding that I've already posed that problem to DVD+R for newbies.

Well, I knew one is not allowed to pose one and the same problem to diferrent forums; however, I thought this is not my case, since my problem about corrupted DVD dealt by you was also posed to the DVD+R for nebies Forum; and I suspected the AVI file mentioned by me is actuually also a corrupted DVD.

Anyway, I sincerely appologize.

I closed the other one as it looks virtually the same as the one 2 posts up this page. If it's a different problem i can reopen it. Plus i was redirecting you back here anyway as there's already people subscribed to this one hence you'd get a quicker answer
