will the PS3 play copied blu ray movies?

Hi I've tried searching but couldn't find a definitive answer to this question.

Basically I'm living in Thailand and blu ray players are pretty damn expensive here, I will be returning to the UK later this year and I was going to buy a stand alone samsung blu ray player for about £150 to go with my full hd tv, then I though hmm maybe I should just get a PS3 as its got a blu ray player and games all in one and from I hear it quite a good blu ray player.

My local mall sells copied blu ray movies and I was wondering whether or not the PS3 will play them? I need to know as I'm not going to be buying a large amount of PS3 games becasue they cost too much so if it doesn't play movies then it will be a bit useless.

These blu ray movies are about £2 each the same as a normal dvd here so I guess they are the blu ray movies burned onto dvd, I already have a dvd player that upscales to full hd so is it worth it for me?

Those sound like pirated movies and if they are, I doubt anyone on these boards will help you with your question; there's a rule for this somewhere.

Incorrect.

What he is asking and or would be doing is not against the rules and is fine for discussion IF he asked properly. Please have a re-read of the rules in full before posting misinformation or adding improper confusion to the rules. Thank You.

But to answer your question Sushi ~ Yes a BD Backup IF made properly will play in a PS3. But the discs you would be getting locally would most likely be either BD rips downsampled/compressed to fit on DVD (thus not true/full HD) or fakes altogether. There are other options like downloading actual BD backups (of the ones in your collection) and streaming them from your PC to the PS3 over your home network.

hello,
is their a simple guide for a beginner to copy a blu ray onto my hard drive and then rip it to a blu ray blank disc?

all of the forum i read become confusing and dont answer a a strait forward method of just copying a movie to the pc then the how to burn a movie on to a blank blu ray disc.

can anyone help??
