Sorry to create another thread about this but it was impossible to sort out all the facts I need through search and Google. A lot of the threads came from 2007 and there's no real information. I'm getting a PS3 for my birthday as a gift from my wife and I just need to clear up the facts and misconceptions. I don't need to be spoon-fed on how to do it as I don't have one yet and I will find a tutorial when the time comes.

1.) From my understanding it seems that the only PS3 that is able to do it is on a 60GB PS3 with the Emotion Engine. I've also read that its only available through an exploit allowing you to read files from an external hard drive. Is this correct and is there anything else I need to know?

2.)I'm not sure if this will be the deal breaker on the whole thing or not for me, but I religiously play a Japanese import called King of Colosseum II. Will I be able to play Japanese imports on it?

3.) Are there any real downsides to getting the 60GB PS3 other than price?

Just in case it comes up that I need it, I do have a copy of Swap Magic 3.6. My PS2 is broken so I don't use it at the moment. Thanks to anyone who helps.

Yeah I saw that, but I also thought I saw another way to do it with USBAdvance without opening anything up. Maybe I'm mistaking.

To answer your questions about a 60GB PS3 - There's no downside to buying one, other then the price as you mentioned.
