I've successfully flashed iExtreme 1.6 to my Samsung drive, but can't get Windows to detect the drive so I can use it to backup games. It shows up fine in JungleFlasher, but that's it. It won't show up in Schtrom or Xbox Backup Creator. I don't really know where to go from here. Should the drive show up like any other drive in Windows, with a drive letter? I'm kinda new to all this on the 360, but not to hacking/modding in general. I just think I might be missing a step somewhere. All I know for sure is I have to turn on the xbox with the drive half open, but that doesn't seem to do anything except put it into vendor mode in JungleFlasher.

You have to get the tray into half status and then power cycle the drive I believe.

yes you do have to power it with the tray half open then you need to close the drive tray by pressing the eject button this should get the drive detected in windows if it still doesnt work rebot your pc and try again that should fix it also i was not able to get xbox backup creator to work with my benq or samsung it stops after 3% and says invalid partition

Doesn't seem to do anything. Could PortIO be interfering with this somehow? I know I needed it installed to get JungleFlasher to detect the drive, but should I uninstall it or something? Also, could a program like daemon tools possibly interfere with this?
I had 1.51 flashed on it previously. What I did to "upgrade" was loaded my original firmware dump into JungleFlasher, and the 1.6 samsung .bin file as the target, clicked "Spoof Source to Target," then clicked "Write" in the MTK Flash 32" tab. Did I miss something there? I'm just trying to cover all my bases.

You are going to want to make sure you edit that out. You can't direct link to the files. Any mod is definitely going to get you on that.

You can't change the md5 of a file. The md5 is listed to you can see if the file was tampered with. If the members posted a file with a specific md5 hash, and the file that you have has a different md5 value, then it has been tampered with. Don't use it.

i downloaded the 1.6 firmware on xbins earlier and i got hawx to work so this must be the legit version of the ixtreme 1.6 firmware.
and just a quick message out to the stupid f+cking c*nt who put the false version of 1.6 (renamed 1.5 to 1.6) out earlier i hope you thoghut that was funny.

Alright, I can definately confirm that JF is a real c@cksucka when you're trying to erase/flash a LO that's spoofed as a Benq w/1.51.
But I managed to get it flashed with LO ix16 repack. I had the same issue with JF not reading ix16 in the Target box. But after flashing it I redumped the drive again, just to verify that the drive was flashed. When you redump it the Source box does read it as ix16.
On a side note... for those who don't know already, the Benq and Lite On lasers can be swapped.
I had a guy send me a LO drive to try and salvage the key from because he thought the board was dead. I was able to read it just fine so I figured it was some other problem.
Long story short:
- his 1 month old LO wouldn't read any discs
- board dumped fine w/ JF
- I only had his LO drive and no LO console to test with
- I had Benq console
- Benq and LO lasers looked 99.5% the same
- Swapped lasers, spoofed LO as Benq
- LO drive played backups and originals

having the same problem. xbc and schtrom as well return errors at 3-4%. using benq ixtreme 1.6 successfully detected by windows/in 0800 mode. I assume an update for these programs is required to add support for new ix1.6 fw, but anyone have any success ripping originals with it?

The author of the Xbox Backup Creator program is working on an updated version which will allow ripping of games from a drive flashed with ix1.6
That's why you guys are getting errors.

I would want to ask something, after the erasing and writing part in JungleFlasher with the Lite On, on the left side it where is earlier said plsd something and now it says something about " Vendor is open ". After al that then the flashing is finished right? You just need to unplug the power to the DVD and plug the DVD in the Xbox 360 back again.

After it erases, writes and then verifys, you just click the "send outro" button. That'll take it out of vender mode. Then you're good to go.

I don't see the point in updating, as long as I stealth check me games there should be no issue. And as for running an active iso to boot potentially unsafe games - I'd rather get banned! lol Sounds too much like the days of swap magic and I hated that haha

Ok, I have spent countless hours reading threads pertaining to this subject and would like to confirm my thoughts. It is my understanding that the only difference in 1.51 (not 1.5) and 1.6 was the 0800 dump. My concern is in the security. obviously it is safer to use the most recent fw but as a hitachi owner I am curious if I should keep the wave 3 games out of the console until 1.6 hitachi release or am I safe (as can be)? My thoughts are that everything should be ok. Also, does 1.51 set 12x drive speed?

Just make sure you are stealthing your games with abgx. 1.51 will boot a nonstealth game without any warning so the added security with 1.6 is that it will not allow that to happen by default. wether there are other enhancements to security im not sure bit if there are i would update(i did anyway). im pretty sure 1.51 sets 12x also but you could verify by reading the 1.51 release notes probably.
If you send me questions on Live about modding or anything related i will block you. Dont be an idiot.

I run all backups through level 3 abgx check fix but that was one of my concerns with 1.51 and being "idiot proof". I would like to know if I make a user error that the firmware will reject the game and it sounds like 1.6 does this. I will def update when released (hitachi) but wanted to cover my a$$ for the time being.
