Hi,
I'm considering updating to System menu 4.0E as the SD card functionality is a must.
If I choose to update using the System Update button, what is actually affected - will I brick my Wii ? or will my Wii act like an un-modded console.
Also, as theres a workaround using Bannerbomb, is it quicker to update from system update then rebuild the hacks - or work the hacks into the update?
thanks,
steaky

If you have HBC and a cIOS installed for a backup loader then use this guide HERE to update to 4.0.

also, is the cIOS the cIOS_fix.wad - I have installed that because I followed the "October 23rd Wii Fix by ?a_running_pir8?" to get the HBC on my wii originally, but how can I check I still have it installed?

cIOS is like cIOS36_rev9 wich allows WiiGator and USB Loader to work.
I have no idea what cIOS you have installed. You should know if you are using WiiGator.

the only WADs i have on my SD card that look remotely like a IOS or cIOS are:
cIOS_249-rev6_rr
IOS16-64-v257-prod
IOS36-64-v1024
can I just install a newer cIOS on top, as the tutorial posted asks for "CIOS rev7 or higher already installed"

If you have cIOS36_rev6 installed then yes a newer cIOS36 revision will install over it.

cool, thats done now, but I've just got one more problem.
The house is on Virgin media cable, and I've only got a crappy Dell wireless router. I cant get my Wii to access the internet.
When I downgraded to 3.2E I remember there being a way to do this "offline"
Would his be possible going to 4.0e
